Politics Versus The Bible

Let me preface my remarks today with a simple formula. I can’t insert the “is not equal to” symbol you learned in the 5th grade… BUT…

  • Christian is not synonymous with Republican
  • Republican is not synonymous with Christian.

Now, YES… a VAST MAJORITY of American Born Again Christians flock to the Republican party. And politicians are quick to try to either A). support Israel while running for office or b). talk either about God, prayer, or maybe a lame quote from the Bible. note they’ll never quote something like John 3:3!

Most politicians stop the pretense as soon as they’re in office. Um… except the Donald. It seems he’s conducting Bible studies in the White House. right in the Oval Office. Guess what? I could be very wrong, but I think he won the election. And he’s carrying on far past the point where everyone else drops the pretense!

But here’s the flipside – there’s a political party who has seemed to make it a priority to legislate out of existence Christianity within America. And a lot of Christians STILL are part of that Party.

The Republican party pushed a member of a cult as a candidate for President, and suddenly Franklin Graham and countless others are rushing to embrace anyone who’s ever even driven PAST Salt Lake City as a fellow Christian.

No, let’s get our heads clear. We test everything by the word of God. Even political expediency. If your party routinely opposes God, Christianity, and the Bible, and exalts every manner of sin – as a Christian, you have only one response. Leave that party. Vote with your feet.

If your party attempts to push a member of a cult as President, then click on “other” at the ballot station and manually type in the name of another Candidate! The Republicans would have been astounded if they’d pushed a Mormon, only to find that a candidate who’d not gotten the nomination found himself President the following morning!

We as Christians need to send warnings to Washington DC – we matter. And we will not stand for any attempt to silence Christians, or to stand against the Bible. Here’s our answer to Pelosi Democrats and their agendas… we pull every Christian voter out of the Democratic party. Which almost happened last November.

If they lose enough elections, they’ll figure it out, and boot the Pelosi-ites out of office. That’s how we answer Washington. We vote. And at this point, you have to vote against things sometimes.

We also send a clear message to the Republican party, which I think they heard loud and clear – no moderate Republicans. No Liberal Republicans. High ye away to the democrats, if that’s ye platforme!

STAND for the Bible. Stand for God. Vote according to those factors, and sooner or later, the politicians get it.

And stop parroting political expediency. Ye are not your own, and ye were bought with a price. Not by politics, but by the Son of Man.

Politics, Freedom and Your Rights Pt. 2

This is my last article on this subject.

What is the one right that a political party has dedicated itself to wiping out?

Freedom of speech.

What right are they even more vociferously opposing?

Why… owning any means of protecting yourselves.

Why?

Why haven’t we been asking this question? Why haven;t we been asking why they’re so keen on removing our rights to defend ourselves?

Why are they so keen on removing our rights to defend ourselves?

Simple. They are going to remove our rights to speak, to elect our representatives, to petition the government for redress. They are about to take away our rights.

YOUR rights.

There’s one snag. There’s a lot of Americans.

And they own things that could cost the lives of anyone trying to take our freedom away. America has twice in its history gone to battle over freedom, and has responded in war. Not riots, but war.

America has several times had other nations attempt to take away our freedoms. It has responded in war. Not riots, war.

If you think this is about assault rifles, I’m going to tell you you’re only part right, and tell you that you haven’t been paying attention. At all.

The Democratic party has moved recently from talking about bans on assault rifles to bans on gun ownership. And don’t think they’ll stop there. Australians, for instance, are not permitted to even own any object which can be fashioned into a weapon. You know, Martial Arts schools have the students practice with light mockups of ancient weapons. Because there’s the possibility that they could be sharpened for a few minutes before breaking, they’re illegal in Australia.

No kidding. A tin sword with a handle.

We have someone running for President who is advocating gun confiscations. And she’s not going to stop there.

Because once the guns are gone, they have the power to do whatever they want.

It’s very simple. The United States Constitution guarantees the right to own firearms, bows, swords, spears, and other weapons. If you want to purchase a battle axe and keep it on your wall, you have that right.

People want to take that right away.

Right now, in countries that have strict laws against the owning of weapons, they are powerless to fight back against military age men that their government has been importing, who are assaulting men, women and children alike. Some countries right now have had to warn women to travel in groups or with men.

There’s some disagreements from Liberals that the second amendment is a constitutional guarantee of gun ownership. Where do we turn to see the framers of the constitutions thoughts on what they meant it to be?

to their letters, of course. Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin communicated with myriads of people about what freedoms they intended to guarantee. We turn there for every question on their intent for every subject in the Constitution and the Bill of rights…

Except for the second amendment. Why? Because they make it quite plain in their letters that the only defense against tyranny is the right to own and carry firearms.

There are more laws in America on ownership and carry of weapons than on how to drive automobiles. It is the most restricted freedom in the United States.

“But nobody needs an assault rifle!”

You SURE about that? The only reason America has not been invaded is simple – we’ve got oceans in the way. Oceans separate us from them. There are entire countries where the common man chants “Death to America!” in their streets.

Do you think they’re KIDDING?

They’ve rioted and caused open war throughout the Middle East. THey’ve rioted and caused open war throughout Europe.

Where are they coming next?

Well, the answer is, they’re already here – they just haven’t started yet.

What they’re doing in Europe, they’re going to do here.

The Bible does give you the right to defend your life.

12 And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return unto us they will be upon you. 13 Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows. 14 And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses. 15 And it came to pass, when our enemies heard that it was known unto us, and God had brought their counsel to nought, that we returned all of us to the wall, every one unto his work. Nehemiah 4:12-15 (KJV)

35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. 36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one. 37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end. 38 And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough. Luke 22:35-38 (KJV)

The laws of America give you the right to defend your life. You need to verify the laws of your state to see what it says on this regard. Some states have laws that are more constitutional than others.

Here’s my last words on the subject:

Why would you vote for a candidate who wants to deprive Americans of a constitutional right?

Politics, Freedom and your Rights

I avoid politics on this blog. But I can definitely say that we stand on the balance of losing – in America – freedom.

I’ve mentioned Freedom of speech, and how people are willing – willing! – to sacrifice this right.

Let me explain a simple math equation. Liberals will need to hold your tonuges for a minute, READ what I have to say, and THEN you can go off with your mindless responses.

The Freedom of Speech leads to the freedom to vote.

If you lose Freedom of Speech, you lose quickly the right to vote.

All freedoms come from the right to be able to speak.

If you can be arrested for speaking your mind, you have no freedom.

America does not any longer have freedom . I, as a Christian, have to be careful of what I say or think.

Let me put it this way – in the realms of tolerance, America is intolerant to Christians.

There’s only a short jump from depriving a group of people of their RIGHTS to depriving a group of people of their LIVES.

If you disagree with that, if you think I’m paranoid, please go RIGHT NOW to Washington DC. THere’s a building I want you to go to. It’s very close to the Washington Monument.

It’s the Holocaust Museum. They play a little game with you there, and give you a little booklet that gives you the identity of someone in the Holocaust. At certain points, you’re supposed to read it and see how you’d have done.

Most of the visitors to the Holocaust museum find that the identiy they were assigned died usually very quickly.

Now, let me say this.

America was base upon safeguards, checkpoints, to prevent any one man from assuming absolute power. America had suffered under a Tyrant, King George, a Hessian who quite simply did what he wanted, and responded to any petition for government redress with anger.

And anger brought harsh retaliation. Let’s not forget the opening shots of the Revolution was fired in Boston. And One of the first men who died was Crispus Attucks, who had recently been given his own freedom. He understood, better than the men around him, what it meant to be free. And so, it came down to this – he pledged his life to buy America its freedom.

To – as an American – voice loudly for the dissolution of the Constitution, to call for and applaud the loss of the freedom of speech, is to spit on the memory of Crispus Attucks. It is to betray everyone who died in war to protect this country. It is to betray all those who have sacrificed time with family to protect this country.

While you want to throw it away.

If you advocate the abolition of the Constitution, if you advocate the end of freedom of speech, then you are a traitor to the United States of America. And any politician who advocates this is also a traitor.

Any political party that champions the loss of constitutional rights and the abolition of the US constitution is committing treason to the United States.

The unchanging word of God

I could use one of my collections of quotable quotes here, or use one of my collections of sermon illustrations to get this point across.

However, you’re all Christians, and this should be a basic issue. BASIC.

This one is right up there with salvation. If you don’t have this one right, start over, go back to square one.

God’s word does not change.

God wrote His Bible from about 4400 BC or so, until 95 AD. It is one complete, authoritative, cohesive representation of the will and thoughts of God.

Now, some things in there, such as the ceremonial aspects of the Law and the sacrificial system, are bound under the law of God. They apply to specific people at a specific time. When you are born again, those laws change. They no longer apply because you’re no longer alive to the Law. That too is basic. If you don’t understand that, study Romans, Colossians, Galatians, and Hebrews until you do get it.

leaving the law aside, the rest of the Bible – 66 books – still are in force. When God decries sin, hey take it from me – He still is opposed to sin. God still is against things like adultery, murder, theft, idolatry.

It’s not up to you to decide what is right or wrong. That is up to God. He decided long ago what is right, what is wrong, what is sin, what is not.

God created the entire Universe. That means He knows what is right and what is not right.

It’s not for you, a Christian, to decide what is right. In case you missed it, if you really are a Christian – a price was paid for you. You belong to God.

19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (KJV)

Ye are not your own. You belong to Jesus Christ. He’s the Boss. What He says, goes.

In case you forgot, Jesus Christ is KING. Before Him everything that ,is in heaven above and in the earth below shall bow, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

But some Christians have the audacity to say, “Look, Jesus, buster, I don’t like this and that in your Bible! I don’t think it should be that way!”

um… (you probably see it coming, don’t you???) this is at the very least presumptuous. Do you realize who you are talking to???

Take just 30 seconds and think, really think, about who you are talking to.

Let’s try something new. Read your Bible. Preferably a real one, like a King James. Let’s try believing it.

If the hip designer jean cappuccino drinking Jesus you worship is starting to not sound like the Jesus of the Bible, think carefully about that. The odds may be you have followed a different Jesus. A different Jesus is a different Gospel, and a different Gospel cannot save.

Christians follow Christ. they do not dictate to Him what they will and will not believe. I don’t care what the trends are, or what’s politically correct or current. winds change, the Bible and God do not.

Troubled on every side

8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 2 Corinthians 4:8-10 (KJV)

I never cease to be amazed by how God pushes me to the task. Every time I think to myself, “I finally am done dealing with false teachings, and can get back to teaching of ‘the common salvation’ Jude spoke of…”

…Another heretic or false teacher finds me.

Emergents. Messianics. Salvation by works teachers. Cult members like JW’s, Mormons and Roman Catholics. People with strange doctrinal axes to grind.

It’s amazing that most of them end up getting irritable and often insulting when I disagree with them. Well, not too amazing – I’ve found its pretty commonplace. I’ve had better dialogue with Atheists, one of whom was genuinely funny.

I’ve just come to the conclusion that this is the primary ministry the Lord has placed me in. To combat false teachings and false teachers, to call them out on the carpet for what they teach.

I am, however, troubled by what’s going on in today’s mainstream Christianity. Many Christians are blindly swallowing political rhetoric, without stopping to check facts.

Now, I try to avoid politics in this blog. I’m trying to save souls, not win elections. I’m sure if people wanted a blog on politics, I could write one with my usual grumpiness and some would be amused.

What I’m talking about is political correctness being allowed to affect your doctrine.

Now, seriously, this is where a robot should start flapping its arms and talking about warnings and danger.

Your politics should not be allowed to dictate your doctrine. In the United States, Christian should not be synonymous with any particular political party.

If a particular political party starts telling you how to believe, you should kindly remind them of the first amendment of the United States Constitution, that we do have freedom of religion, and that guarantees “the free exercise thereof.”

If you don’t like that, sorry – that’s the US Constitution, and you’re welcome to pack up and move to another country that does not have it. I understand that the United States and at one time Liberia were the only countries that followed the US Constitution.

No political party may dictate how you believe. If you find yourself swayed by rhetoric into changing your beliefs, strong warnings…

  1. make sure you’re attending a Bible believing church.
  2. Make sure you’re attending regularly.
  3. Make sure you’re reading the Bible for English Speaking people, the King James. Everyone says it doesn’t matter what translation you read, but oddly enough, the more you read only the King James the more you become a fundamentalist.
  4. make sure you’re saved.

Saved people continue in “the apostles doctrine”, as Luke put it when writing down Acts. If something as ephemeral and slight as political rhetoric can make you change your beliefs, then… you’re scaring me.

You need to make sure your belief structure is conformed to God’s word, and not to the current political fads.

Read your Bible. What that says… believe. Follow. Let that be the sole rule of faith and practice, not Facebook sayings, not commercial, political speeches, sound bytes, what have you.
