Jehovah’s Witnesses Answered – Pastor Russell

There exists a pamphlet published by a man whom Pastor Russell sued for libel, which actually came to trial in Canada. The Reverend J. J. Ross writes in 1913 that Russell sued him for libel after the publishing of a pamphlet disputing Pastor Russell’s claims. According to Reverend Ross, Russell contacted him by letter and told him that if Ross apologized publicly, Russell would withdraw the lawsuit. Ross replied he would not apologize, and would calmly await the decision of the Canadian courts.

Here is an extract of that pamphlet, an account of the trial.

“But now what are the facts as they were brought out by the examination on March 17th, 1913? As to his scholastic standing, he had sworn that what was said about it was not true. Under the examination, he admitted that, at most, he had attended school only seven years of his life, that the public school, and that he had left school when he was about fourteen years of age, just at the opening of the adolescent period, when the directional element is so necessary in a boy’s life. “Do you know the Greek”? Asked the Attorney. “Oh, yes?” was Russell’s reply. Here he was handed a copy of the New Testament in Greek, by Wescott & Hort, and asked to read the letters of the alphabet as they appear on the top of page 447.

He did not know the alphabet. “Now,” asked Mr. Staunton, “Are you familiar with the Greek language?” “No,” said Mr. Russell, without a blush. When he saw that he was caught, then he admitted that he knew nothing about Latin, and Hebrew and neither had he ever taken a course in Philosophy, Systematic Theology and neither had he ever attended any of the higher schools of learning. A trap had been set for him at every one of these points, and having been caught in the first, he thought it best for him to “own up before he was shown up.” As it was, he was shown up. This is the man who goes about claiming that he alone has the proper understanding of the Scriptures, condemning the translators of the Bible and denouncing all ministers and teachers of the Word except himself, and his little satellites, as ignorant, empty-headed and deceitful. Russell has made quite a free use of the dead languages in his books, but this is evidently not done by himself, but another, with the end in view of misleading the ignorant, and trying to catch the educated. He has familiarized himself with a few big Greek terms which have become Anglicized, such as “Apocalypsis, Epiphaneia, parousia, parakletos,” etc., puts his own meaning into them and then goes about using them before his audiences, and those who do not know any better think him a highly educated man. This is the man also who condemns all books and papers except those written by himself or published by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society.

Now as to his ordination. Remember that the self-styled “Pastor” is still under oath and that he says, “The oath is sacred.” It is indeed sacred to him. “Is it true that you were never ordained?” asked his counsel. “It is not true,” replied Mr. Russell. But my counsel takes him in hand and being wileful, it is difficult to keep the arch-heretic to the point. His Worship, the Magistrate, was appealed to and Russell is informed that he must answer yes or no.

“Now,” said Mr. Staunton, “You never were ordained by a bishop, clergyman, Presbytery, council, or any body of men living.” After a considerable pause and his eyes fixed on his feet in the witness box, he said, “1 never was.” Pie was caught again!

and he was not abashed. This is the gentleman that gives himself forth all over the world as a fully accredited minister of the gospel. What a low standard of morals he must have! What a seared conscience he must possess. He swore he would tell the truth, all the truth and nothing but the truth, and that under the eyes of Almighty God.

But how artful he is even under oath in devising falsely! In other words, what a fabricator.”

— (from “some facts and more facts about “Pastor” Russell, by Rev. J. J. Ross)

I don’t know if the Watchtower Society continues to say Pastor Russell was ever ordained, or that he knew and was educated in Greek, Latin and Hebrew. But here you have the truth of the matter, printed back in 1913.

there’s no denying that Pastor Russell made some claims that were not true, and that there was a great deal of personal enrichment Pastor Russell had, and that he did commit fraud in an attempt to avoid cooperating with the court orders to pay his alimony.

I would have preferred Reverend Ross, however, would not have been so insulting in the last few sentences.

Jehovah’s Witnesses Answered 23 The Deity of Jesus Christ

This one is going to be… huge. It’s an answer for ANYONE who claims that the Bible does not teach the deity of Jesus Christ.

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5-11 (KJV)

Since this has turned out to be a dividing line, I thought I’d deviate and re-address this issue, since it is downplayed or denied by every cult and false Religion out there.

6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. 9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. 1 John 5:6-9 (KJV)

10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:10-13 (KJV)

It is interesting to me that so many Jehovah’s Witnesses fall into the category of “other Sheep”, which means they do not have a “heavenly hope”. In other words, they have no hope of going to heaven. Some are described as “anointed”, which means they have a “heavenly hope”. I think it’s interesting that the Watchtower Society is being truthful to their followers in this respect: “You’re not going to heaven.” They then proceed to tell a half truth in “Paradise earth”, but then lie and say “There is no hell.”

Well, I’ve already dealt with the “other Sheep” doctrine and the anointed, as well as the 144,000.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:1-3 (KJV)

The Lord made all things. There is no record anywhere in the Bible of Angels creating anything.

6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: 7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. 8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. Colossians 2:6-9 (KJV)

No problems. It means what it says.

1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Hebrews 1:1-3 (KJV)

14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 (KJV)

Immanuel means God with us. Anyone who’s been a christian for a little while knows that much.

Remember, there’s no arguing with the Bible! The Bible means what it says! Put aside the “Watchtower” magazine and”Awake!”, and read the Bible for what it says!

10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. Zechariah 12:10 (KJV)

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John 10:27-28 (KJV)

James Melton brings up an excellent point here – if Jesus is not God, how would He have the power to give everlasting life? Only God can do that.

2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Micah 5:2 (KJV)

Um… if He is from Everlasting, that means He had no beginning and no end. Which is the point of Hebrews 6 & 7!

1 For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; 2 To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; 3 Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually. Hebrews 7:1-3 (KJV)

THe words “from everlasting” can only be referring to God, as everything else in the universe, including the Angels had an origin.

2 Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting. Psalm 93:2 (KJV)

16 Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting. Isaiah 63:16 (KJV)

So we see that the Lord Jesus Christ is God, reinforced over and over again. The problem is, the Witness is conditioned to read the Bible along with reading plans and lessons in the Watchtower publications. If the Bible says “Up” and the Watchtower Society says “Down”, why then, it must mean down!

AS I’ve pointed out before, the Watchtower Society is opposed to you reading your Bible without their publications. Why? Because if you read the Bible without their publications, you’ll believe the Bible. And we can’t have that! Why, you’ll end up believing all those doctrines the Jehovah’s Witnessses deny!!!

So… doesn’t it then mean, if you’ll believe all those doctrines they deny from reading the Bible alone… doesn’t it mean they’re Biblical?

14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. Exodus 3:14 (KJV)

58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. John 8:58 (KJV)

THen there’s this – kind of hard to misunderstand this one…

41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, 42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David. 43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, 44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? 45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? 46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions. Matthew 22:41-46 (KJV)

Anyone that says the Lord never claimed to be God is a liar or mistaken – or decided on their doctrinal stand ahead of time and then looked for scriptures to enforce that. When you don’t read your Bible, but rather only verses that support your views, it’s easy to believe what you want. But when you STUDY your Bible, you can end up only with Bblical doctrines.

28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. 29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. John 20:28-29 (KJV)

Who did Thomas say that Jesus was? And in the next verse, did the Lord rebuke him for saying it, or did He commend Thomas? He commended Thomas, and even more so all who had believed without seeing.

I believe – do you?

24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. John 8:24 (KJV)

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? John 14:9 (KJV)

“He who hath seen me hath seen the Father.” I can understand this only one way.

6 And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Revelation 19:6 (KJV)

14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. 1 Timothy 6:14-16 (KJV)

Again, James Melton points out, If Jesus Christ is the only potentate, and the Lord God reigneth… then the Lord Jesus Christ MUST BE GOD!

The Lord Jesus Christ is eternally God, pre-existing from before Creation eternally as the Son. He was not a created being, or he could not have been from everlasting.

And unless you believe that, you will suffer forever in Hell.

I plead with you, in this moment when these words are getting through – repent and believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. Don’t wait! Do it now. Come out of the Watchtower Society while you can.

8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. Isaiah 42:8 (KJV)

11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another. Isaiah 48:11 (KJV)

5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. John 17:5 (KJV)

Jehovah’s Witnesses Answered 22

So far we’ve established:

  • Jehovah’s Witnesses are not Christians, as two of the cardinal doctrines of Christianity include the Godhood of Jesus Christ and the Trinity.
  • The translators of the New World Translation were not “experienced, anointed Christians” as the Watchtower Society claims – but rather untrained, inexperienced Jehovah’s Witnesses
  • It would take doctorate degrees in Greek and Hebrew to be qualified to translate the Bible
  • According to Ray Franz, only one of the Translators knew any Greek, and no Hebrew
  • There is no good reason to withhold the list of the translators of the NWT, and suggest the Watchtower Society has something to hide by concealing the names of the translators.
  • Fred Franz, who served on the translating committee of the NWT, was incapable of recognizing a single Hebrew word in court, or even a single Hebrew letter – after claiming under oath he knew both Koine Greek and Hebrew.
  • The JW’s rely on the United Bible Society text and Kittel’s BHS Hebrew – for what, I don’t know, since their translators don’t know any Hebrew or Greek
  • The oldest Greek texts are actually the Textus Receptus, not the Wescott-Hort The majority of the oldest forms of the manuscripts are actually Textus Receptus
  • The earliest of church fathers, living in the time of the apostles until AD 130 all quoted from the Textus Receptus.
  • If Vaticanus or Sinaiticus were truly the original Greek, then they wouldn’t quote words or verses that those manuscripts leave out
  • The NWT has major inconsistancies compared with the Textus Receptus
  • The NWT revealed its bias against the Godhood of the Lord Jesus Christ by forgetting to twist a verse that shows the Lord Jesus Christ willingly received worship, and that some worship Him in vain (Matt. 15:9)
  • The usage of “Sheol” in the Old Testament in context means “The abode of the dead”
  • Sheol contained both Abraham’s Bosom (Paradise) and Hell, with a great gulf fixed between
  • Both the Old and New Testament say that Hell is a place of fire, perpetual torment and burning
  • a Grave is cool, and does not torment or burn.
  • Luke 16 is a record of fact, and not a parable
  • names are never mentioned in parables, but Luke 16 names Abraham and Lazarus
  • The rich man in Luke 16 is not named because obviously we don’t need to know who it is.
  • Almost every verse in the Bible on Hell is speaking of a literal place of torment and suffering.
  • The Lord Jesus Christ is not an Angel
  • Angels Are Created beings, hence the terms “sons of God”
  • Jesus Christ is eternally God, therefore not a created being, therefore cannto be an Angel.
  • The term “Son of God” refers to the relationship between God the Father and God the Son.
  • Angels do not permit human beings to worship them – only Fallen angels encourage this.
  • The Lord Jesus Christ obviously is not an Angel as He permitted people to worship Him.
  • The Lord Jesus Christ stated many times that He was the only way to salvation
  • There is no such thing as a small g god in the Bible – only God.
  • The Lord Jesus Christ has always existed as God the Son
  • Unless you accept and confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is God, you will be condemned to hellfire and eternal suffering forever.
  • Salvation By Grace is available to all, according to the Bible
  • The Trinity is a Biblical doctrine
  • There is no proof the “144,000” were physically descended from Israel
  • the British Israelite theory does not account for descent from individual tribes such as Gad, Asher, Benjamin, Issachar, etc.
  • The 144,000 must come after the 5th seal. The 144,000 of the Jehovah’s Witnesses come almost a century before the Tribulation.
  • It has been more than seven years after member #144,000 joined the Watchtower Society.
  • The tribulation must end 7 years after it begins.
  • The Temple in Jerusalem has not been rebuilt
  • There’s nothing in the Bible about only the 144,000 are saved by grace or may partake of the Lord’s Supper
  • The 144,000 must all be male
  • The 144,000 must all be virgins. We have no information that the 144,000 Jehovah’s witnesses are all virgins.
  • Elijah and Moses must appear in the Tribulation at the same time as the 144,000. Moses and Elijah apparently are quite delayed, as it’s 99 years later and they’ve never shown up.
  • Soul Sleep is not Biblical
  • The Bible makes a distinction between the soul and the body in death
  • We must read all verses on a doctrine to get the correct understanding of the doctrine
  • The Bible portrays the souls of the dead aware, speaking, praising God, and the souls of the unsaved pleading, weeping, begging, in torment
  • Charles Taze Russell adopted the unbiblcal doctrine of Soul Sleep from Seventh Day Adventists, and from the teachings of Ellen G. White
  • The return of the Lord will be visible. Every eye will see Him return in power.
  • The Bible does not speak of an investigative judgment. The concept is an unBiblical doctrine.
  • God’s Chosen organization is the local church, not the Watchtower Society
  • There is nothing in the Bible referring to a select few within a multi-church organization running that organization
  • There is nothing in the Bible about the writing of any future book that will equal the Bible.
  • The book Jesus Christ supposedly found so perfect that he chose the Watchtower Society because of it, is the Finished Mystery, by Charles Taze Russell – which Jehovah’s Witnesses are not permitted to own or read.
  • The Finished Mystery is an embarassment to the Watchtower society, as it is so fanciful and ridiculous that any Witness that reads it will realize they’ve been lied to and are in a cult.
  • The Watchtower Society will not permit you to celebrate Christmas and your birthday, because you’ll end up spending money that could go to them. Stop paying your tithe to them and see what happens.
  • The Watchtower Society will not allow you to have back issues of their magazines, tracts, and publications because it will reduce their control over you. Prove me wrong, ask them for copies of all of their back issues of magazines, books and tracts
  • You are saved by grace, and not of works, lest any should boast
  • Salvation is available to all, not just the 144,000
  • We are not saved by works, but by grace
  • Anyone who teaches you you are saved by any other Gospel is under a curse
  • The Watchtower Society teaches the very opposite of the Bible
  • If you do not get saved by being born again, you cannot enter the kingdom of God, and will die in your sins, and will spend eternity in the very Hell whose existence I’ve demonstrated.
  • We are justified not by works, but by faith
  • The spirit of the Antichrist teaches the opposite of the Gospel, just like the Watchtower Society
  • The spirit of the Antichrist denies the Godhood of Jesus Christ, just like the Watchtower Society
  • Cults try to strip you of your identity to maintain control of you – as does the Watchtower Society
  • The Sheep are the Jews, and the other sheep are Gentiles. Once in the local church, they then are one group, the body.
  • There is no “two classes of believers” other sheep and anointed – all of the sheep are anointed, or they are not saved.
  • There’s no scriptural support for two classes of believers, the other sheep and the anointed – but rather one class, both anointed and sheep.
  • Paradise Earth is not in the Bible
  • The Great Multitude, according to the Bible, is in heaven, not earth.
  • Paradise is not on earth, but according to the Bible, is in heaven.

It’s time to start turning our attention to the achilles’ heel of the Watchtower Society – failed prophecies.

This has been the most difficult of things for the Bible Students, the Zions Watchtower Society, and the Watchtower Society (ever wonder why they changed their names several times? There you go – it’s due to the failed prophecies).

Pastor Russell claims to be the messenger of the Laodecian age. If so, he should have enough clear light to be able to know what’s going on, right?

Incidentally, the word “Angel” when referring to the church is taken by all to mean the “pastor” of that church, as he is its messenger. So to say you are the “Angel” or “Messenger” of the church at Laodecia, behold – you are saying you are its pastor. To claim to be the messenger of the Laodecian age is to claim to be a universal pastor over all churches – kind of a hefty claim, and one that the Jehovah’s Witnesses would be the FIRST to claim as prtesumptuous and unBiblical. Why?

There is no example ANYWHERE in the Bible of a person pastoring more than one church at a time, or of ANYONE being over the pastor of a church. There is no hierarchy of clergy, nor of laity!

In essence, if he was aware of this, Pastor Russell would be claiming to be the Pope. From what I’ve read of his writings, it’s clear to me he was unaware of the implications of his prideful boast, as I believe if I had Pastor Russell in front of me and I were to tell him this, he would loudly denounce any such interpretation.

Which is odd, especially when we see the formation of a Governing Body in 1944, that does just that, rule over the churches, underneath the leadership of a pope – excuse me, the president of the Watchtower Society.

Interestingly enough, there is more of a corporation about the Jehovah’s Witnesses than there is Biblical example and structure. The Biblical model is one of a Pastor over a local church, acting as God’s representative in one sense, but as the servant of the congregation in the broader sense.

One of the biggest problems Pastor Russell ran into is this – he was completely unable to understand the Bible, from what I’ve seen. He did well when with the adventists, and sitting under their teachings (and doing their printings with Mr. Barbour). But when on his own, the only way he could reason out the Scriptures was consistantly from an allegorical point of view.

Using Newspaper eisogesis, he scanned the headlines, and then would rush to the Bible to see if he could find anything remotely resemlbing it in the Bible. If he was able to compare it to ANY Bible passage, lo and behold, it was a fulfillment – whether the context of that passage had anything to do with it or not.

“The fact is that the entire Gospel age has been a period of tribulation referred to in Matt. 24:9-12, and now in verse 29. (1) The early Church was persecuted by civil Rome, while later, when Papal Rome got control, all who refused to approve her abominations were persecuted by her (Jezebel) directly, or indirectly by the civil powers to which she was wedded (Ahab). And they were given into her power, and she wore out the saints of the Most High for a time, times and a half time – 1260 years – until A.D. 1799. And this long persecution, in which ‘many were purified and made white and tried,’ and in which the Mother of Harlots was ‘drunk with the blood of the saints and the martyrs of Jesus’ (Rev. 17:6) ended as we have already shown, practically in 1776 and actually in 1799 when the Pope and his authority were humiliated before the World.” (Charles Taze Russell)

Here we see newspaper eisogesis (or history book eisogesis, actually) at its worst, combining with a fanciful allegorical mix of 1 Kings 19-21.

The problem with allegoricalizing of the Bible is this – anyone can wrest any symbol into meaning ANYTHING THEY WANT IT TO MEAN. I could say myself that Ahab represents the Ford motor company, and Jezebel represents Lockheed Martin Corporation. Or Dell Computers and Hewlett-Packard. Or Beany and Cecil.

The curse of William Miller lingers, in the fact that the day age theories form the basis of Pastor Russell’s predictions. Which means in fact, Russell was setting himself up for the same inevitable dissapointment that William Miller and followers expereinced in 1844 and 1845.

Russell was convinced that the theory was sound, and the key to unlocking the scriptures. And so, he sat wth paper and pen in hand, trying to calculate the Lord’s return.

6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. Acts 1:6-7 (KJV)

The Bible simply does not say when it will be. Indeed, we are told it is not for us to know. At some point, Russell must have decided that since the Hebrew calendar averages to 360 days in a year, that must be the number of days in a Biblical year.

Here’s the fallacy of that – the Hebrew year DOES average 360 days, over 10 years. However, the Hebrew calendar is very complicated. Over 17 years, Chanukah can wander almost to the New Year, all the way back to during Thanksgiving. One would have to average out over 17 years, and then what do you have? An average.

If I shoot 50 bullets, and 47 of them hit in the black rings on the target, you could say I have a 94% average. What do I really have? 50 holes in paper, 47 of them in the black part.

If I have one year with 348 days, one with 354, and one with 370 days, what do I have? Three years with three different numbers of days. The only way to accurately calculate how many days in a year would be to sit with Hebrew calendar rules, and figure it out, and actually count it up. Gong back 1,260 years would take months to calculate. And then what do you have?

Lots of wasted paper, wasted time, and a headache. Why? It was William Miller who decided on the day-age theory, and we have no Scriptural basis for this. If the Scripture says 1,260 days, we should assume the Lord means what He says. Otherwise, we end up with a tribulation 2,520 years long! Why? 360 days * 7 years, transform into day/age, and voila, you now have the Tribulation ending in the year 2520! Well, add 30 for the date of 30 AD, and you get the nice round number of 2550! Halleluyah, I’ve figured out when the Lord will return!

Except – I’ve made so many unSCriptural conclusions, it’s ludicrous.

The entire system is flawed in that we have NOTHING to go by in saying that prophetically one day equals one year. We could also assume that since the Hebrew Calendar is based upon sevens, one prophetic day equals seven actual years. In which case the Tribulation would be over in another ten thousand years. WE start by assuming William Miller was right. Hm, let’s ask his followers.

Well, most of those left. Why? They sold homes, businesses, belongings, and traveled with him to the place he determined the Rapture would occur at first. When NOTHING happened, they left. Sick at their stomachs that they’d ruined themselves financially, and sold off family herilooms, family businesses, and sometimes even gave away the money, and now were BROKE. Deceieved and ruined.

Kind of sounds like many childless Witness families, who delayed having children in the seventies becuase Armegeddon was so close, only five years away! And then held on, because what if they were off by a year or two? And today, have no children, no grandchildren, missing all those possible chances to raise a child, watch him experience all those great things in childhood, then graduate high school, get a family of his own, and grandchildren…

…because like the Second Adventists, they were deceived. By Fred Franz. Byn the Watchotwer Society and their habit of guessing when Armageddon would be.

“Well, it’s clear light, and as we get closer, the light gets clearer…”

Do you REALLY buy that? You REALLY believe that?

What you’re saying is that your prophet has NO CLUE. He’S GUESSING WILDLY.

If I have a map, and I see New Jersey is below New York, I should be able to find the Garden State Parkway no problem! (listen for the honking horns, I know).

If I can Read the map, that means I can find where i’m going, and be RIGHT every time.

If I have NO CLUE what the map is saying, I’m going to stumble around, say, “Ah! This must be New Jersey! Hello? Anyone Home?” “Como Esta?” “Ooops, well, as the light gets clearer…”

If i’m guessing wildly where New Jersey is, and just start driving, I’m liable to end up ANYWHERE.

You’re saying your prophet is incapable of interpreting the Bible. If there really is a code in there that we MUST interpret, and if Pastor Russell/William Miller was in fact right – you’re saying that your prophet is in fact incapable of understanding that code.

I’m telling you that there is no code. I’m telling you the Bible means what it says when it says we are not permitted to know.

And that when Pastor Russell was wrong every time with every prediction, and Joseph Rutherford, and Mr. Franz, and Mr. Knorr…all wrong every time – it was inevitable.

You have a one in 365 chance if you knew the Rapture (yes, that thing you don’t believe in, despite the many passages in the Bible that speak of it) was in 2014. 1 in 730 if you KNEW it was either 2014 or 2015. If you have absoultely no idea what year, then the number of chances of being right falls dramatically, as now its 1 in several million. How many days have occurred since AD 30? If anyone was guessing (I meant, prophesying) back then, the odds of being right were astronomical.

Here’s a statistic I’ve noticed. Every person that has ever predicted when armegeddon would be, was 100% wrong.

So. Here’s the list.

1915. (shades of the Great Dissapointment of the Adventists. 1844! 1845! We have no idea!)

1975/76 (The Watchtower Society first announced the 1976 date back in the ’50s, then changed their minds and went with 1975. I liked 1976 personally, because it was a great summer, not too hot, a cool breeze. Oh, and tall ships! Anyone else remember that???)

All wrong.

These dates were uttered “Thus sayeth the Lord”. They were wrong. You don’t get a second chance to be a prophet. Pastor Russell announced 1914 on his own (I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt while under Barbours influnce…) and was wrong. According to the Bible, that makes him a false prophet. You know it, I know it.

Judge Rutherford announced another one… and was wrong. False prophet. He’d even purchased a luxury home, planting palm and olive trees on the property for King David, Moses and Elijah to live at called Beth Sarim, house of the princes. By 1940, they’d sold it, as it was an embarassing testimony to being false prophets.

1976 was the last straw for many. They awoke from their slumber, and left, mourning the time they’d spent under the influence of the cult.

1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, 2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; 3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. 4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. 5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee. Deuteronomy 13:1-5 (KJV)

bottom line – wrong prophesying once, false prophet.

Correct Doctrine 18

4.14 Jesus Christ will visibly rule the earth in a literal Millennial Kingdom from Jerusalem, and will defeat the devil once and for all at the end of the Millennium, when the heavens and earth will be destroyed and the New Heavens and the New Earth will be created, and we will dwell with Christ forever (Rev. 20:1-3, 20:4-6, 7-15, 21:4-6, 2 Cor. 5:1, Psa. 133:3, Rev. 22:5)

Again, an easy one!

It goes this way:

  1. right now
  2. the rapture
  3. tribulation
  4. the Millennium
  5. final battle Satan against God
  6. destruction of earth
  7. eternal state

Pretty easy, no?

I know there’s many denominations that teach we are in the millennium right now. They’re wrong. Read on the Millennium, and you’ll see there’s NO WAY we can be in the middle of it right now!

Here’s the verses.

1 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, 3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. Revelation 20:1-3 (KJV)

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Revelation 20:4-6 (KJV)

7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. 11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:7-15 (KJV)

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. Revelation 21:4-6 (KJV)

1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Corinthians 5:1 (KJV)

3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore. Psalm 133:3 (KJV)

5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. Revelation 22:5 (KJV)

Cut and dried. If you’re attending a church that teaches post-millennialism, or amillennialism, there you go. It’s time to seriously consider leaving and attending a Biblical church.

Walter Martin on Jehovah’s Witnesses

Walter Martin was very good – sadly, he never became a Fundamentalist. He was misled by ecumenism – a warning if ever I did hear it.

I urge all Witnesses to please examine Mr. Martin’s materials. And Any apologists, strongly need to look into his materials as well.

Correct Doctrine 17

4.13 Jesus Christ will return in like manner as He ascended, returning visibly and physically at the end of the Tribulation to judge the nations as King of Kings and Lord of Lords (Acts 1:11, Rev. 19:11, 16, 20)

Nothing hard to understand about this one! Here’s the verses:

11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Acts 1:11 (KJV)

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. Revelation 19:11 (KJV)

16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19:16 (KJV)

20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshiped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. Revelation 19:20 (KJV)

There is a difference between the Believer’s judgment and the great white throne judgment. The believer’s judgment is for the purpose of determining rewards. The Great White Throne judgment is bad. If you are there as a person to be judged, it’s not going to have a good outcome. Because guilt or innocence has already been established – this is now the punishment phase of the judgment. How bad will it be? Contrast the two. For saved people, it is determining of rewards. For the unsaved, it is the determining of the level of eternal torment.

Will a saved person find themselves at the great white throne judgment? Yes, but as witnesses, from what I’ve read. Our sins are atoned for, all of them. We have no punishment, by the astounding grace of God and His infinite mercy. The unsaved, however, never called upon the Lord to save them. They cast themselves there. The Lord will no doubt explain that to them.

If you are not saved… this is the time to get saved! Make SURE you are not standing in the crowd to the left of the Lord at the Great White throne judgment! Do it NOW, because you have NO assurance of another moment. Repent, and believe on the lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved!
