The Pre-Trib Rapture 1

25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh. Luke 21:25-28 (KJV)

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 (KJV)

10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10 (KJV)

20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, 21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 (KJV)

30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Ephesians 4:30 (KJV)

4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Colossians 3:4 (KJV)

The Soon Coming Rapture 2

Yay! Another Rapture article. These cheer me up.

Let’s say that I could list every Bible verse proving the Rapture is Pre-trib. Let’s say I can do expository Bible study on the ENTIRE BIBLE, proving the Pre-Trib rapture – and don’t convince a single person (which is what would happen, because people love ideologies, not truth).

What then?

I’m counting on all of you post-trib, mid-trib, no-trib and Pre-wrath believers to stock up food. Supplies. Ammo. Tools.

Why?

Because when, to your embarassment, you are raptured.. all those supplies will be left behind.

For people who within a few months… are going to desperately need them.

If you stock up for them now… lives will be saved. If you don’t… people will die.

Horrible to meet someone in heaven, and ask… “how did you die?”

“I starved to death. And there was no water.”

And you hang your head thinking, “I meant to stockpile for people left behind.” Well, don’t open your mouth and admit it, I guess!

And if you REALLY believe that despite the Bible, you believe you personally are going through the Tribulation… buddy, you’d better get busy and stockpile now. Because after the midpoint, you need the Number of the Beast to buy food.

So, how long is it going to take for you to buy everything you need? quite a while.

You may not have that much time to do it.

The Pre-Trib Rapture 10 – Margaret McDonald

Reposting this… since I first posted it a while ago, and thoroughly debunked this – mid and post tribbers are AGAIN saying that Margaret McDonald invented the pre-trib rapture.

***********

Just about every mid-trib, post trib or no-trib website always brings up Margaret McDonald.

Okay, let’s get that out of the way.

We’re constantly pointing out that there is nobody alive convinced of the rapture because of Margaret McDonald. Todd Strandberg did an article a few years back, about how he finally searched for this legendary girl who claims to have had a mystic vision in which, for the first time, someone saw a pre-trib rapture.

Huh.

Okay, research here is the key. Todd Strandberg reports it almost was a “Where’s Waldo?” search, except that in the “Where’s Waldo” puzzles, he’s always right there where you can see him. In this case, it’s clear NONE of these anti-Rapture advocates have EVER researched the claim. Or, extremely embarrassed, they’d have withdrawn the claim.

For starters, her “Vision” is post-trib.

“uhhhh… wait, I’d always heard she saw a pre-trib rapture.”

Nope.

So, you guys have made SO MUCH about her vision – and you NEVER EVEN READ IT! What amazes me is that Roman Catholic apologists always make snide remarks about a vision… but if she’d been a Roman Catholic, and the Virgin Mary had been central in it, there’d be pilgrimages, flowers, rosary beads, candles and incense offered at the place of MacDonald’s birth! Look, if your religion thrives on visions, attacking a straw man of visions is ill advised. Glass houses, stones, all that.

What’s the vision?

“I saw the people of God in an awfully dangerous situation. Now will the wicked one be revealed with all power…It will be a fiery trial…Nothing but what is of God will stand…I said, Now shall the awful sight of a false Christ be seen on this earth; and nothing but Christ in US can detect this awful attempt of the enemy to deceive…This is the trial through which those are to pass, who will be counted worthy to stand before the Son of Man…The trial of the Church is from Antichrist. It is by being filled with the Spirit that we shall be kept. I frequently said, Oh be filled with the Spirit – have the light of God within you, that you may DETECT satan…”

Um… this is post trib. That’s consistent with the teachings of the Irvingites, whom MacDonald belonged to. So, her prophecy was play-acting, to make her seem important – she’d learned their doctrine well, and to have her seeing a mystic vision that confirmed the teachings of the group was seized on. Amazingly, it reminds me of Seventh Day Adventism and Ellen G. White’s odd visions, that changed with the wind.

How can I say it’s post trib??? Well, the Irvingites were post trib. And MacDonald mentions the Antichrist, released in the first Seal – which is during the tribulation. “The trial of the church is from Antichrist… this is the trial through which those are to pass…”

Um… if the churchES are to be tried by the antichrist, well then, that places the rapture AFTER the Antichrist is done – which is at Christ’s second coming!

So… maybe Pre-Trib believers should be turning that around to attack post-tribbers, claiming “You all got it from the visions of a Scottish girl!” See how they like having to defend it!

There. Aren’t you post-tribbers embarrassed??? You made ALL THIS NOISE about MacDonald, viciously attacking that straw man argument… only to find out SHE SUPPORTS YOU, NOT PRE-TRIB BELIEVERS!

Hah!

Next, we fail to see any quote from the person they say was the first advocate of the Pre-trib rapture, John Darby. Darby did advocate a pre-trib Rapture – but he tells how he was able to figure that out. It occurred to him as he studied the Bible that there was a difference between the churches and Israel. Once he’d understood that, it took little work to read through Revelation and see that suddenly the churches disappear from the earth, and God is working through Israel again. So, if there’s a difference between the churches and Israel, and Revelation starts out talking to the churches, then suddenly switches to Israel, and the churches cannot be found again until the end of Revelation – that means the BIBLE IS CLEARLY TEACHING THAT THE CHURCHES GO SOMEWHERE ELSE DURING ALMOST ALL OF REVELATION!

Sorry, don’t mean to shout, but the post-tribbers aren’t listening.

So, was Darby the first teacher of the Rapture?

Nope. A Southern Baptist preacher, who also agreed that MacDonald’s vision was post trib, first offered $500 for anyone who could offer proof of a pre trib rapture prior to 1830. He had to retract his offer when he found the writings of Emmanuel Lacunza. Lacunza taught it back in 1812. So the Baptist pastor, John Bray, offered the prize again, but this time before 1812.

He lost the money when someone gave him proofs of a book from 1744 published in England that taught a pre-trib rapture.

Well, what about this quote from before the year 370?

“For all the saints and Elect of God are gathered prior to the tribulation that is to come, and are taken to the Lord lest they see the confusion that is to overtake the world because of our sins.”

Ephraem of Nisibis wrote that, an early Christian writer of the Syrian Christians.

That’s.. a long time ago. It’s clearly pre-trib. Its clearly before the year 400. It’s an early Christian writer. And Juistin Martyr apparently was pre-trib as well, placing the teaching as far back as prior to AD 100.

Huh.

Looks like the church was ALWAYS pre-trib, and that abandoning this belief was moving from the previously held position – apostasy.

Looks like you post-tribbers have some explaining to do.

Reasons why the Rapture is pre-trib

This is a popular subject as of late – and the reason why is simple. I think Christians sense that the time may be drawing nigh. There’s a million blogs which fall into about 4 different interpretations. The ONLY position which makes a distinction between Israel and the churches, is dispensational, and is literalist (takes the Bible literally) is…

Pre-Trib.

To place “The Church” in the middle of the Tribulation, indeed, anywhere after Revelation 4, has to confuse or replace Israel with “the Church”. I always say it this way because the number of references in the Bible to the word “Church” identifies the word church to a local, visible entity. There is only one verse which can be interpreted either way. Since the Bible is careful to identify the church as a local institution, and uses the title “kingdom of God” or “kingdom of heaven” to refer to all believers as a group… I do the same.

“The church” is not Israel. Israel is Israel. The church is a local institution of assembled, born again believers that may be Jewish (usually the minority) or Gentile (usually the overwhelming majority). Gentile Christians are grafted INTO believing Israel, but do not REPLACE believing Israel. I could write a very long and very confusing series of articles on this issue – confusing because I’d have to use English, which is pretty slippery, to write it. Now if I wrote it in Koine Greek, it would be a lot more specific, but then only a handful of people could read it. And my Koine is pretty rusty, as my classes in it were 5 years ago.

How can I write these things?

1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. Revelation 7:1-3 (KJV)

This happens really early on in the Tribulation. Who is the servants of God? Some people say this is “The Church” because it refers to the servants of our God.

4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. 5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand. 6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand. 7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand. 8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand. 9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. 11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, 12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. Revelation 7:4-12 (KJV)

These are… Jews. The first reference to believers after Revelation 4 is a description of Jews. What tribe are you from?  That’s the question I ask any Gentile who tries to appropriate this for themselves. It’s stumped a few Jehovah’s Witnesses, by the way.

Let’s look at the Immanency issue. The Rapture is imminent. To say it comes at (X) point in the Tribulation means we can… pretty much guesstimate it’s time. “No man knows the day or hour” is what the Bible says. So if you say it’s midpoint – Voila, it’s 3.5 Jewish years after the signing of the peace treaty, Ta-Da! I know the day and hour. That rules it out from being the time of the Rapture.

If it was the third seal, then it’s roughly three months times 3 after the peace treaty – nine months later. Sixth Trumpet? It would be  roughly 39 months after the peace treaty.

How about the two doors? A door opens in heaven in Revelation 4:1, and does not re-open until Christ returns to earth. Open door number 1 – the Rapture. Open Door number 2 – the return.

The word “Church” is  used many times in Revelation 1-3. It disappears in Revelation 4 and is not seen again until after the Lord has returned to the Earth.

John is a type of the Christian in Revelation. HE gets Raptured in Revelation 4:1, and accompanies the Lord on His way back to the Earth.  If John gets raptured at that time, why are we any different?

We are told to look for the Rapture and the Return of Christ. We are never told to look for the Antichrist.

Finally (this is a quick article, I’ve written much longer articles on the Rapture previously, loaded with information) there is no resurrection of the dead mentioned in any point of Revelation until the Judgment. So either it’s post-trib (which explains nothing) or it’s pre-trib.

I’ve written MUCH longer articles on this subject in the past! Just click on the Rapture category, and keep scrolling down and sooner or later, you’ll reach the first one. By the time you’ve read every article on it… you’ll be convinced, or really sleepy, because it’s going to take a LONG time to get through all those articles.

Really.

Just when I was thinking about writing about something else, an article on SermonAudio got me going.

“Should Pre-tribbers give up?” Okay, wait a  minute. Should we give up what? Believing in a sound, obviously Biblical doctrine? Give up speaking about it? Give up defending it? Give up writing about it? What??? Speak up!

Okay, let’s try this headline and see if it makes any sense to you… “Should Bible Believers give up?” Makes no sense, does it?

The little of the article that SermonAudio listed seemed flawed from its very premise. Perhaps it was supporting the Rapture. I don’t know. All I know is that it made the claim (incorrect) that the vast majority of Christians are Dispensational, Pre-trib believers. No, that’s not quite the case.  The last statistic I saw on it  showed that slightly more than half of Christians have that doctrinal stance. And no wonder its not “most Christians”, because we’re smack dab in the Laodecian age, and correct doctrinal understanding is fading fast.

We may yet see the vast majority of “Christians” reject a belief in the Bible, the deity of Christ, and the virgin birth before the year is out!

The slipping belief in the Pre-trib rapture, as I wrote just a couple of days ago, is a canary. If you begin to believe in mid-trib or post trib or “pre-wrath”, it’s a huge warning sign that you’re slipping doctrinally.

And I fully expect mainstream Christianity to find themselves caught flat footed by the Rapture. Many, many, many will discover they were left behind because they followed unScriptural Evangelism messages, and trusted in a formula, or walking up an aisle. or raising your hand, or writing your name on an envelope, or getting your forehead wet as a baby. So it’s no surprise that it’s not an overwhelming majority that believes in the Pre-trib rapture, because the overwhelming majority of mainstream Christianity probably is not saved.

It’s been discussed a lot that when “Crusades” supposedly get 10,000 signatures, but only 3 or 4 actually show up in churches for more than a month, that you only got 3 or 4 converts. I don’t care how many cards got filled out.

So, there’s millions and millions of people in the US that think because you walked an aisle, or heard sad music play while emotional appeals were made to be saved and they got emotional and walked an aisle, and were coached in a “repeat after me” prayer they really didn’t understand or mean… that they’re saved.

Guess who’s going to be in total shock an hour after the Rapture? Yup. All of them.

Funny thing is, there’s going to be a lot of very embarrassed Baptists who did get raptured, and had put up WordPress blogs insisting on only believing in a “pre-wrath” position.

Trust me if you’re one, I’m going to poke fun at you while we’re seated at the Marriage Supper together. good news is, you’re going to laugh along.

Canaries

150 years ago, coal miners in the UK and US used to carry Canaries with them into the mines. One person held the lamp  and also watched the canaries. If they broke through a vein to an area with radon gas or other dangerous gases that could kill the miners, the canaries would drop first. The minute they saw the canaries in distress, the man with the light sounded the alarm. The Canaries’ tolerance to the gas was so much less, that even if they showed any signs of lethargy the miners escaped the mines.

There’s one major doctrine that I liken to the canary. If your doctrine is suffering, this is where it shows up first.

The Rapture.

The minute Christians begin to worry that they might have to go through part of or all of the Tribulation, you should be fleeing to your Bible.

I’ve recounted many times on this blog numerous proofs for the Pre-trib rapture. The proofs are Scriptural, numerous, and uncontestable. I liken most of the rebuttals to one of several usual problems – replacement theology, anti-semitism (that’s Jew-hating, for those of you who wish to be contentious), or a complete misunderstanding of foundational doctrinal understandings. You pick.

When I mention that the word “Church” cannot be found between Revelation 4-20 (in other words, during the Tribulation) someone always answers “But it mentions saints.”

Okay, … that’s Revelation chapter 8. Who is it talking about in Revelation 7?

1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree. 2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, 3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. 4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel. Revelation 7:1-4 (KJV)

The children of Israel. Those are Jews.

Every once in a while, I see people suddenly start talking at this point about the Khazars, and Ashkenazi Jews.

If you just went there, you’re a Jew-hater. Or Anti-Semite, if that sounds too bold for you.

usually about fifth or sixth down on the list of Christian doctrinal health is your position on Jews. If you hate Jews, you really need to carefully read Matthew 24. It’s um… talking about them. If the judgment of the righteous nations at the end of the Tribulation is based partly on how the Gentiles treat the Jews… don’t you think you may have to answer to the King of the Jews about your hatred of them?

I bring this up often because… people search often to see what Franklin Graham thinks of the Rapture. Hopefully, you’re all just looking for a quote to use in some kind of thesis or something. I’d hate to think some of you are looking to see what some man believes, so you know what to believe!

Since I put up a link to that news story, I’ve had at least two to three searches a week for “Franklin Graham on the Rapture”. It’s one of the top searches leading people to my blog.

if you’re one of them, I have a LOT of material on the Pre-trib rapture, and why it’s the ONLY BIBLICAL position you can take on the End times. Please – take the time to open your Bible, and look for yourself.

About the Rapture…

I’ve noticed that one of the search terms that I see the most, is “Franklin Graham on the Rapture.”

I suspect that most of the people are searching for two reasons…

  1. They’re looking to see what he believes about the Rapture, to know how they should believe OR
  2. They’re looking to see what he believes about the Rapture because they’re Pre-Wrath, mid-Trib or Post-Trib and they’re looking for an axe to grind.

For the first group, I’ll let Scripture speak for itself…

29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. Matthew 22:29 (KJV)
24 And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God? Mark 12:24 (KJV)
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
Read your Bibles for yourself. If I pick a famous Bible teacher to follow and let him decide for me what’s Biblical, that’s alarmingly bad. Don’t blindly follow any human being, whether it’s Billy Graham, Franklin Graham, David Cloud, or that blog guy Philip Dean! Probably especially the last one.
The Lord Jesus Christ requires you to read your Bible, and to know what’s written in it. He asked uncomfortable questions about the Bible, and strongly declared a literal reading of the verses, and denounced allegory except where Scripture comes right out and says, “This is an allegory.”
Let’s move on to the second group.
The word “church can be found 18 times in Revelation 1-3.
It can be found in Rev. 22 only once.
For some 19 chapters, it is mentioned zero times.
So, why is the most commonly used word in the first part of Revelation used prior to the Tribulation, and then not again until after Jesus Christ returns to Earth?
uh… the churches all go somewhere.
Because the Bible suddenly starts speaking about Jews.
“Tribes of Israel.” This doesn’t mean denominations of Christianity. This means Jews. You know, my people. Y’hudim. Vos mach stu, Yidh? You know, those people the Nazi’s tried to kill. Those people that are so hated in almost every country on earth.
What do we derive from this?
Moses and Elijah return to earth. Meaning someone brings them. That same someone takes all the Christians off the earth, and God at last returns His attention to His chosen people, whom He has promised not to forsake.
35 Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: 36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. 37 Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD. Jeremiah 31:35-37 (KJV)
1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, 3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. 4 But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. 5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. Romans 11:1-5 (KJV)
I have a lot of writings on the subject of the Rapture, and I do recommend you take the time to read them, with your King James Bible open and look up what I refer to.
Here’s one of the crowning (hint) proofs that the Rapture is in Rev. 4:1…
10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Revelation 4:10-11 (KJV)
When do you get your crown? The believer’s Judgment. When is that?
1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed: 2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; 3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away. 1 Peter 5:1-4 (KJV)
When the Chief Shepherd appear. The believers get their rewards when Christ returns. But… Christ hasn’t returned to the earth until Revelation 19, right?
Oh.
The Rapture.
The Rapture, according to Revelation has to happen between Rev. 4:1 and Rev. 4:10. So, somewhere in those verses we should see the door of Heaven opened (hint), right?
1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. Revelation 4:1 (KJV)
The Rapture.
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. Revelation 19:11 (KJV)
the second coming. The door in Heaven opens twice. The Rapture, the Return.
Case closed. Go read my other articles on the Rapture.
