so… according to the SD…A and Ellen G. White (and correct me if I’m wrong)… the Sabbath is forever. Right?
First question…. and someone please enlighten me! But the SDA originally taught that the Seventh Day Sabbath was from 6 pm to 6 pm. So… WHICH 6 pm? Locally? Jerusalem? Understand that time zones are an estimate. So, it would be 6 pm in Jerusalem. But one Longitudinal minute later, it would still be 6 pm… but the earth rotated one minute. In other words, in reality, in that very spot BEFORE, it is in actuality on a sundial… 5:59. And two longitudinal minutes later it would be 6:02. Right?
5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. Genesis 1:5 (KJV)
Biblically, the Sabbath was measured from sundown to sundown.
32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath. Leviticus 23:32 (KJV)
The day of atonement (Yom Kippur in Hebrew) is a Sabbath. And… it’s measured from sundown to sundown. Yet for many years, Ellen G. White taught it was to be kept from 6 pm to 6 pm. Then, suddenly she changed it to the correct way. Thus sayeth the Lord. When she was asked by very concerned SDA followers to reconcile the two very different “thus sayeth the Lord’s” she promised that it would be made clear in a soon coming vision. Apparently, still forthcoming. I hesitate to say it, but probably don’t wait around for the vision.
Okay, next question… You’re not allowed to buy or sell on the sabbath, carry things out of your house, carry a burden in or out, or light a fire, right?
Turn on any lights on the Sabbath? That often creates a spark, very small. It’s… a fire.
Start your car? That’s a fire. internal combustion, right?
So… what’s the penalty for breaking the Sabbath? In old Israel, it’s death, right?
What is it now???
Where in the Bible are Gentiles commanded to keep the Sabbath? It’s only for Israel, right? That’s the Jews. Not Gentiles.
Last question…. the rest of the law of Moses was put away, right? Nailed to the cross, right? So… what about the Sabbath?
All the other 9 of the 10 commandments are repeated in the New Testament epistles, right? So… if the Sabbath is to be kept by Christians, why is it the only one not repeated?
