It’s easy to follow the logic. What gets Evangelical Christians is the conclusions you have to draw.
Simple fact – there is only one way to salvation… salvation by faith through grace.
Evangelical Christian. “Right.”
Simple fact – you cannot earn your salvation.
Evangelical Christian. “Correct.”
Simple Fact – Galatians says that you cannot earn your salvation. Ephesians teaches it is a gift of God, and not of works.
Evangelical Christian. “You got it!”
Simple Fact – Roman Catholicism teaches you must earn your salvation, that anyone who teaches you are saved by faith through grace alone is condemned to Hell.
Evangelical Christian. “Ummm…. Uhhhhh…. Are you SURE?”
Yes. I checked the Council of Trent, and it says that. I read in Vatican II they affirm Trent.
Simple Fact – Roman Catholicism is not Christianity.
Evangelical Christian. “I don’t like that.”
Don’t care. Simple fact – unless a Roman Catholic is born again, they will not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Roman Catholic – “That’s Catholic Bashing.”
Evangelical Christian. “I’m not comfortable with that.”
John 3:7 (KJV) Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Galatians 2:16 (KJV) Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Simple Facts. Everyone on earth must be born again. John 3 specifically states this is a spiritual rebirth. Galatians tells us no flesh shall be justified by works. Ephesians tells us we are saved by grace through faith.
If your religion or denomination teaches anything else, it is wrong.
