Titus 3:10-11 (KJV) A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.
Christianity today is plagued by unbelief. And the rank and file Christians seem largely unconcerned.
The so-called “scholars” have again launched an assault on the Bible with the release of a book “Authorized?” Logos of course is hyping the book – anything that criticizes the Bible, supports Ecumenism and supports an unbelieving heart is immediately pushed on the startup page of Logos when you open it. It was largely because of this that recently I purchased Swordsearcher – I began to worry that by seeing this kind of thing over and over again would begin to affect me.
And Michael Heiser (resident scholar) at Logos continues at least once a month to push Theological Liberalism – last month with a quote from Ezekiel that he claims supports his unbelieving contention that Ezekiel was “Edited” by unseen hands. Apparently, he thinks he’s smarter than Wellhausen and many of the classic Textural Critics who concluded that Ezekiel as a whole was “Untouched”, and considered a “pure” book, free of “Recensionism”.
In other words, Wellhausen and the others prior to him concluded that Ezekiel was never edited. My point is, none of the books of the Bible were edited.
A curious fact – Logos gives away as free the works of Shakespeare. But it’s not the recognized works, but ones that appear to be defective or edited.
Because the scholars at Logos believe you’ll become an unbelieving theological liberal like they are if you read them.
But you’re not going to. You know why?
You’re saved – they’re not.
You start from an understanding that the Bible is the inerrant, inspired, preserved, correct and perfect word of God. Coming pure from God, you conclude that it is perfect since God made it.
They start from an assumption that the Bible we have is errant. That it is flawed. That it holds the fingerprints of ADDING verses by some “pious scribe” they’ve taken to naming him “Julian”. They’re so convinced of the truth of their theory that they’ve given someone there is no proof of a name! You know, my sister had an imaginary friend too when she was 5. She gave that up. You might want to think about the same thing.
You understand the Bible is from God.
They assume the Bible is like any other book.
That’s a frightening assumption. You can’t assume that and be saved. You literally cannot believe the Bible is to be treated like any other book and be saved. What’s written by Shakespeare is the words (and sometimes the coarse filthy words) of man.
What’s written in the Bible is the pure words of God.
Michael Heiser may protest I’m picturing things in a dichotomy of black and white thinking. Well, I learned that from the Bible, because that’s how the Bible shows it – you believe or you don’t.
Matthew 23:13 (KJV) But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
