James 20

Let’s do something really quick. I wanted to gloss over this verse, so we could return and examine it.

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James 4:4, KJV)

Friendship with the world… is enmity with God.

Spiritually, if you are conforming to the world, if you are a worldly Christian – God is calling you an adulterer.

Here’s one thing we really lose by taking the first step into Textual Criticism. “We need to find out what the author of the book REALLY INTENDED when he wrote the passage…”

No, we don’t! We READ it and HEED it! The author wrote what he REALLY INTENDED!

So, who’s the author? James?

Answer – God. James was the instrument. Calling James the author is like saying my blog was written by Dell.

Friendship with the world… is enmity with God.

Spiritually, if you are conforming to the world, if you are a worldly Christian – God is calling you an adulterer.

What changes are you going to make in your outlook, beliefs, and life to avoid this?

Apostasy reigns around us, churches are sliding into worldiness, a whitewashed Gospel is preached everywhere... "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV) So, I'm speaking out. ...Why aren't you???
