My heart is grieved for Christianity. What I’m seeing is truly scaring me.
A brief search for “What is wrong with today’s Christianity?” led me almost immediately to a page which said something about “This is the opposite of what Yahusha said…”
I ran across far more evidence of everything wrong with Christianity, rather than articles explaining the problems!
Let me give you a definition of a Christian. In case I left anything out, please give me suggestions.
“A Christian is a born again individual who is living for God, and is using the Bible as their sole rule of faith and practice.”
Many, many so-called Christians today are living their lives according to the world, not the Bible. They live for Facebook or Football, and not for the Lord. They are guided by political rhetoric, and not by Scripture.
Let me give an example of how off things are getting – Christians getting Bible verses tattooed on their body.
Um… Great! Try this Bible verse!
“Cool! I’m doing that tomorrow! What’s it mean?”
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
That’s an example.
Christians when I was a kid knew better than that. I knew a Pentecostal who saw no problem telling me about his faith, and that there were things he would not do, because he did not want to offend God. At the time, I was completely impatient with him about it.
But he had far more convictions about Christianity than today’s Christians do.
Look, a famous Christian wrote a book about how he didn’t believe in Hell. He still has followers, even after he left his church and his pulpit to go work on a TV show. Well, it flopped, and now he’s trying to use Oprah to worm his way back into Christianity.
Really. His books and videos are still sold in Christian bookstores. 30 years ago, they’d have denounced that teacher, and Christian bookstores would have pulled his materials immediately.
Christians when I was a kid used to join arms around concert venues to try to keep kids from going in. Now, they’re buying tickets themselves.
Apparently, you can commit ANY sinful or aberrant behavior, no matter how greatly it is condemned in the Bible, and if the liberal media tells you it’s good, you’ll flock to support it. And “Christians” are rapidly embracing something and using harsh words against anyone who disagrees.
God’s opposed to sin. Have we forgotten?
Whatever happened to your Bible?
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Ephesians 2:1-2 (KJV)
What does that verse mean? Do you understand???
“In times past you walked in the manner or way of this world, following the prince of the power of the air…”
“The spirit which now worketh in the children of disobedience.”
Are you a child of God? Or a child of disobedience?
6Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. 7Be not ye therefore partakers with them. Ephesians 5:6-7(KJV)
Children of disobedience. Did you read that? Children of disobedience are following Satan. And God’s wrath abides on them.
Here’s the thing. You’re supposed to be Christians. The Bible is supposed to be the authority in your life. You’re supposed to read it. David Cloud likes to say if you don’t continue in Jesus Christ’s words, you’re not saved.
Twice in the last two years, I’ve had so-called Christians come on this blog and attack me for standing for the Bible.
I really am becoming afraid for Christianity today. It’s getting hard to find any website or blog that supports Fundamentalism. You know, standing for an inerrant Bible. Saying you believe in it. Choosing to let your life become conformed to the Bible.
And its harshest Critics are so-called Christians.
Here’s a Bible word – repent. If the Bible is not your sole rule of faith and practice, repent.
If you are opposed to this, I have a different suggestion – get saved.
That’s what my old Pentecostal friend would have said 30 years ago. He was really simple. “I’m going to live according to the Bible, because Jesus Christ wants me to.” And he would make that funny face when he heard about some so-called Christian who was opposed to people living by the Bible. “What’s he want us to live by? The phone book?”
