Romans 4 Part 6

17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. 18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. 23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; 24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Romans 4:17-25 (KJV)

I can say no more. This really sums it up. Salvation is by faith through Grace. Salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ alone. Christ was raised so we could be justified.

I am an American.

I have pride in American accomplishments. While I was a boy, the United States celebrated its 200th birthday.

I got flag stickers and put them on my school notebooks. Nobody thought it was unusual. Because they were doing it too.

This year is the 230th anniversary of the United States. Technically, it was May 4 that was Independence Day, because the first draft of the Declaration of Independence was read from the balcony of the courthouse in Newport, Rhode Island on that day. Incidentally, the building still stands.

I am proud of America.

Yet a certain political party seems to hate America.

Ok, great! you have that right!!! All of you!

…when are you all leaving?

I remember the cartoon in the newspaper when a well dressed man is sitting at a restaurant counter, talking about his leftist ideals, and a hippie looking guy interrupts him to yell, “America! Love it or leave it, you commie pinko!!!”

Nobody is forcing anyone to stay. If you despise America so much…

…pack up and leave. There’s LOTS of nations who are opposed to freedom of speech. You’d be welcome there.

There’s LOTS of nations who are opposed to private ownership of handguns! tickets are available at all travel agencies. A simple email to the embassies of those nations, expressing your hatred of America, and your opposition to handguns, free speech, your support for re-distribution of wealth, etc… would make you very welcome there!

North Korea would love to have you. China would welcome you. A quick check of, “What countries are Socialist?” will give you a large number of possible host countries! You’ll LOVE it there!

But forget being able to post on Twitter and Facebook. You’re against freedom of speech, right?

“I meant against other people, not me.”

Well, when Socialists Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton become President, they don’t. They DO mean you. When they talk about redistribution of wealth, they mean YOUR wealth. How rich did you become under Obama’s boldface violations of American law by confiscations of wealth? Are you wealthier now?

Oh… you’re poorer! Wow! Imagine that!

You’re going to become EVEN POORER when Sanders or Clinton are elected.

So, i’ll make this a deal. And I think Donald J. will back up my offer with cash…

…The Donald will pay personally for your plane tickets – one way- to North Korea if you really hate America so much.

Our Armed Forces have endured silently ridicule and harassment. “We don’t want another Vietnam!!!” The Democrat pundists howled at the beginning of the Afghan and Iraqi wars.

Well, see, they declared the wars. We did not. We just took it right to them. We DIDN’T have another Vietnam. You made it that way, by spitting on soldiers, mocking them, ridiculing them, charging them with crimes and broadcasting it on the news. And then calling for cutbacks, claiming we need a “Streamlined” military. yes, America’s enemies are thrilled about “streamlining” our military.

And when the Court Martials revealed they were correct in their actions, above board and acted with integrity…

…you all showed your lack of integrity and buried the news stories.

America is the greatest nation on earth. It has made mistakes. But that does not change the fact it has done amazing things. Europe ridiculed and criticized America, and then when the Kaiser Wilhelm proved almost unstoppable, we went over there and in 30 days stopped the war.

Oh, and by the way, France charged us fees and taxes for the privelege of being maimed and dying on their soil.

Europe was a little more restrained about criticizing the US after that. They battled Kaiser Wilhelm for years, and we ended the war in a month. You know what happened in the pivotal battle? One American battalion, stuck in the middle of the forest, fought off every attack by the Germans and Austrians.

One Battalion. And they beat the Germans. A week or so later, the war was over.

Their commanding officer was so guilt stricken over ordering his men to fight on and not surrender that he killed himself after the war.

Amazingly enough, America is the only country on earth that Hitler declared war on.

Three years later, American troops marched into Hitler’s private bunker and posed for photographs in his bedroom. At his dinner table. Standing in front of his personal flag, flashing the “v for victory” handsign.

If you as an elected official, further the cause of the destruction of America, you are traitors to the legacy of millions of American men and women who rallied to the cause of not only defending our shores, but also who went to war on foreign soils, to protect those who were being conquered, tortured and slaughtered.

The fighting men of America have suffered day and night for us. They deserve to be held up as heros.

Instead, we fire them, and then they’re held up on streetcorners for their wallets.

Beaten savagely in the “knockout game”.

Today, we should be pinning medals on the chests of every man who has served this country.

Fly your flags proudly. Hang them with reverence, and salute them.

Show you are proud to be an American.

If you’re not… contact Donald J. Trump, and ask him for a one way ticket to the Socialist country of your choice. I’ll just bet he’ll come through for you.

Romans 4 Part 4

9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness. 10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. 11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: 12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised. Romans 4:9-12 (KJV)

Easy one!

We talked in the last one about how salvation was the gift of God, and not of works, lest any man should boast (Eph. 2:8-9)

This brings us right to verse 9…

“Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also?”

Remember, Paul tends to use the Hebraism here. “Circumcision” was Paul’s way of distinguishing between Gentile and Jew. It’s more polite. What in those days separated Jewish men from Gentile men? There you go. The phrase was understood right away by the listeners in Rome, and in Galatia, where Paul also used the term.

So, Paul is asking, “Can only the Jews be saved, or the Gentiles only? We say that Abraham had faith, and it was counted as righteousness… How was it counted? When he was Jewish, or when he was Gentile? It was when he was a gentile, and not yet a Jew.”

I know, we shouldn’t paraphrase Scripture, but I’m trying to put this in terms that everyone can understand. I understood it the moment I read it.

Abraham had faith while a Gentile, and became a Jew as a result of it – that “he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also”

Incidentally, looking at first usage words “circumcision” is first used in Exodus 4:26, and Romans 2:25 is the first use of Uncircumcision.

For those whose religious traditions include the mental translation of the word “circumcision” into “baptized” – Romans 4:11 completely blows that concept out of the water!

“cometh this blessing upon the baptized only, or the unbaptized?”

If your religion teaches falsely that infant baptism saves, then Romans 4:11, if mangled in this unBiblical fashion, refutes it by saying Abraham was saved before being baptized!

A look at Exodus 4:26 shows that it cannot refer to baptism. That’s completely silly! Try this concept: When the Bible says “circumcised”, it means… “circumcised”. When the Bible says “baptized”, then it means… “Baptized”.

They are two completely different concepts. Let’s not mix them to thoroughly (or “Throughly”) confuse the issue. Infants should never be baptized.

Abraham is the father of all who believe, not just of the Jews. Abraham (I mentally pronounce this “Avraham” by the way… old habits…) is the father of those who believe.

If you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, then Abraham is your father as well. After all, Abraham believed God when he was gentile still. He was given the reward of becoming the first Jew because he believed.

So, relax. Stop worrying that you need to convert to Judaism to be one of the people of God!

Be Ye Not Conformed to This World…

In this time, these last days, we need to keep certain things in mind.

I recently was at a conference where I heard an obviously Calvinistic pastor dwelling on 300 year old sermons he’d read, and statistics on what makes a revival, what they were praying, what they were acing, etc.

I couldn’t help but think he’d completely missed the mark.

I don’t want to sound like Ian Paisley, but here’s the truth – most people don’t want revival. You SAY you want revival, but if I laid it out what it takes, then you’d be reluctant to push for it.

What does it take for a revival?

Just certain things. It’s easy. If your church is willing, then I can get a revival going there at once. You all just read the required steps almost three weeks ago, when I covered Revelation chapter 3. But I’m telling you, things will change, and most people are not willing to pay that price in their flesh.

what’s our condition?

14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Revelation 3:14-16 (KJV)

What does it take to get a revival going?

17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. 22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. Revelation 3:17-22 (KJV)

There you go. I’ll break it down. This isn’t a sermon, there’s no “three points and a poem”. This is how it is.

First, the Lord gives us two commands…

  1. be zealous therefore…
  2. and repent.

Wow. Make sure you take notes on that – it’s complicated and I don’t want to lose anyone.

2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. 3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Revelation 3:2-3 (KJV)

A study of the seven churches of Revelation is crucial to surviving these times. I know, everyone wanted to get to the millions of horsemen, and the earthquakes and oceans of blood, and all the cinematic stuff. But we too often skip past the first three chapters of Revelation, and miss out on what the Lord says, and I’m telling you, just a few verses tell you how to get a revival going, one that will turn the world upside down.

And I’m telling you, you don’t want a revival. It’s uncomfortable. Your life will change. You won’t be able to easily go back to your old life.

Here’s what everyone gets right about the state of the churches. It’s our own fault. We left something. What?

  1. our first love…
  2. the Bible…
  3. and the Gospel

Why is Ray Comformt making such a splash? Because he’s daring to invoke the word of God as if it has authority, claims on your life. Let’s deal with number two for a minute.

Here’s a bottom line statement – this one is crucial. Your church cannot have a revival without it.

The Bible is the inspired, inerrant, preserved word of God. If you cannot accept that, then not only can you not have revival, I question your salvation.

We start with the Bible. You need to understand the BIBLE IS GOD’S WORD. We are more inclined to read books about the Bible than to understand the Bible!

That’s the first step. If you have written a sermon for your congregation, and read something in the Bible that made you uncomfortable and decided, “Well, let me see how another translation puts it…” warning sign number one. You or your congregation is in rebellion against God.

How big’s your God? Do you worship a god or do you worship the Lord, maker of heaven and Earth? If Jesus Christ came to you, torn palms, white robe and all, and said… “listen, I really don’t like you watching that TV program. It’s lustful and full of greed, adultery, fornication, envy, and strife. I told you to avoid such things for your own good!”

Would you answer the Lord and say to Him, “Yeah, but I really like the show!” Or would you answer, “I’m sorry Lord… you’re right.”

Answer number one would be rebellion. Answer number two would be closer to the truth. Go read the Bible (hey, remember that thing???) and tell me if I’m right or not.

I know, you’re saying, “Why, you’re just a Fundamentalist!”

You’re right, I am. Why? Because the Bible tells me to be. The question is, why aren’t you???

4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. 5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. Revelation 2:4-5 (KJV)

To do the first works, we must get back to the Gospel.

Let me lay this out, because very often the smartest person in the church is the one that got saved last week! To them, “getting back to the Gospel” would mean getting to exactly how THEY are. Understanding what the price was paid for us, grateful for the removal of our sins, eager to obey God and learn, eager to read the Bible, pausing often to thank God, praying…

When you’re first born again, you want to know…”What does the Lord want me to do?” That’s the right attitude. I guarantee that this is the attitude that (if you don’t lose it from worldliness, sin and rebellion) leads you to being a Fundamentalist.

So I’m not a sinner, worldly, and rebellious? Of course I am. THe New Testament makes it abundantly clear that we are in a fight, a struggle, a WAR with our old nature for as long as we’re in this world. There’s no way to avoid it. Fundamentalists battle it as hard as you, if not harder – because the flesh resists that which is spiritual. The more you attempt to feed your spirit, the more your flesh will rebel against you. And I’m sure Satan sends every devil he has at his disposal to afflict the Fundamentalists first. Why? Well, who do you need more devils for, the worldly, ecumenical Christian who has degenerqated into Universalism? Or the “Narrow is the way, king James Only” Fundamentalist?

When the army calls for reinforcements, is it against the enemy that’s surrendering? or is it only against the enemy that’s putting up a huge fight? I’ll leave it to you to answer that question. Here’s my question for you… are you surrendering? or Fighting? When you’re not backslidden (which in a real, saved Christian rarelyhappens… only about 95 times a day…), are you holding true to God’s Bible? Or are you accepting every Bible, no matter how heretical? Are you holding strongly to “you must be born again…” or are you just accepting EVERYONE that names the name of Christ? Can you quote John 14:6 (or at least sum it up) and do you believe it? or are you one of those so-called Christians who advocate silly things like, “I think EVERYONE that loves God will go to heaven”?

Friends, that’s NOT what the Bible says! If you say or believe that, I’m going to tell you that you’re in one of three categories…

  1. worldly
  2. in rebellion against God
  3. or not saved

14 But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. 15 So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. 16 Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. Revelation 2:14-16 (KJV)

Is there idolatryr in your life? That’s not a “yes or no” question, that’s just a “yes” question. We all have things we bow down to instead of our God. If you present one side of you on social media, and another before your God… Idolatry. If you put other things first, like TV, music, guitars, cars, football, baseball, soccer, chess, stamp collecting, little Hummel figurines, Precious Moments… Okay, I know I’m getting silly. But what keeps you from worshipping your God?

For most people (here it is) it’s television. Sitcoms, the news, the liberal media agenda, Stormchasers (is that still on the air???), Ghostbusters (THERE’S a Godly TV show! Let’s get saved, then sit around watching Necromancy! Why, the Bible says NOTHING against Necromancy!!), SNL, Mad TV… If it’s keeping you from serving the Lord, there’s an issue. If it keeps you from living a Godly lifestyle, get rid of it. How many people at the end of their lives, in a hospital bed, tell people, “I’m so glad I watched all that TV!”

If it influences you to be more worldly, get rid of it. If it keeps you from reading your Bible, or causes you to doubt your Bible, get rid of it.

“well, I watch a lot of shows on Discovery and the History Channel on Bible stuff…”

I wouldn’t. Hoiw many times have you said, “It was good! They questioned a couple of things and they had one or two things wrong… but it was good!”

I’m going to say, that’s just the stuff you noticed. I catch a lot more questioning or errors faster than other people – I guess I just pay atttention. But here’s the question – if they question the Bible even once, why didn’t you turn it off? If they got something completely wrong, why did you watch anything further? WE’re getting to April time, and I’m telling you, this is when they REALLY start kicking in the Bible stuff. It’s because we’re nearing Easter, and they ALWAYS have to question or deny the Ressurection of Jesus Christ. They may not attack the Ressurection, but they’re going to try to cast the Lord in a negative light. Or they’re going to question His Deity. And i’m telling you, watcihng those shows weakens you. Far better to watch videos by Kent Hovind or Ken Ham.

Why aren’t Fundamentalists making videos, documentaries and movies on the Bible, things that portray accurately, things that show the Glory of God?

“Well, I’ve got The Passion movie…” Uh-huh. I’ve got it too, someone gave it to me. Didn’t the Roman Catholic stuff make you question it? Didn’t the patently unBiblical stuff give you pause? It bothered me. I’ll admit, any movie that attempts to portray Jesus Christ as God I’m going to watch, because like you I love the Lord Jesus Christ and I’m grateful to Him for saving me. But guard your affections! I noticed a lot more Christians began accepting Roman Catholics as fellow Christians after “The Passion” movie.

In case you haven’t read my writings on the Roman Catholic Church, I’m going to tell you that the reference to Nicolaitanism is a direct reference to the Roman Catholic church. So is the Harlot riding the beast in Revelation. And it’s not Christianity. Grab a Roman Catholic and ask their testimony. Ask when they were born again. Ask for details. You’re going to be very surprised.

20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. 21 And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. 22 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. 23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. Revelation 2:20-23 (KJV)

How do you get Revival? I know, I took a long time to answer that. Here it is. REady? I even put it in bullets to make it easy to follow.

  • a commitment to read your Bible a LOT.
  • a church program of reading the Bible through in 90 days. The last part of this should be the revival.
  • a fast from social media. How long is up to your church. I recommend at least a week, two is better, a month would be amazing.
  • A fast from TV, total abstinance from it for a month.
  • A committment to do EXACTLY as the Bible tells you to live for 30 days. Try it. Be a Fundamentalist for 30 days. This part is one of the most critical. Skip this part, and your revival gets exactly where all the others got you – nowhere.
  • Pray. Every chance you get.
  • a church repentence service must be the start of this, praying and repenting to the Lord for how far we drift from him on an hourly basis.
  • maybe a literal day of fasting and praying. Don’t play the “can I drink milkshakes?” game – if it’s a fast, make it a fast. Just water for 24 hours. If you wanna do it really biblically, no water either. See the book of Jonah for the king of Nineveh’s command to the Assyrian peoples on fasting. But I understand that’s really tough for Gentiles. It’s tough for Jews too, but hey, a lot of us have done Yom Kippur at least a few times, so we know what to expect.
  • Resolve that you are going to follow the Lord your God no matter what…

There you are. If you resolved as a church to do this for 90 days, plan out the revival for the last week. Or two. I’d recommend a 30 day revival, but that’s probably too much. If any Pastors read this blog, you start the call for this in your church. You might try convincing like minded churches to follow, but that’s between you and them.

7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest. 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Joshua 1:7-8 (KJV)

Franklin Graham on the Rapture

Rev. Franklin Graham, head of the international Christian aid group Samaritan’s Purse and son of world-renowned preacher Billy Graham, said that given all the “bad news” about the killing of Christians by Muslims in some countries, and attacks on Christians by the media and the government even in America, he cannot “help but wonder if we are in the last hours before our Lord Jesus Christ returns.”

I think it’s not as soon as that…

but if you are convinced that we are weeks or months from the Rapture, this is the time to prepare. Not just for yourself, but for others. This would be the time to get yourself ready.

But this is also the time to throw caution to the wind, and start witnessing to people. I can think of no thought worse other than I condemned everyone I knew to suffer through 7 of the worst years the world has ever seen.

Share the Gospel. Give away tracts. Give away inexpensive KJV New Testaments to unsaved people.

Because if the Rapture was tomorrow afternoon, then the world will have seven years left.  Seven horrible years that will see somewhere between 66% and 75% of the world’s population die.

If you’re die in Christ, you go to be with the Lord forever. But if you die and you’re wrong, you’re dead wrong.

a lot of Christians are into prepping. Good! Every christian should prep. For yourself? Nope. You probably will never need it. But those supplies will help out those who get saved after the Rapture. Everyone help them out.

For more information, see my Surviving the Tribulation website, and also

Help them out. You may be out of here, but they’re not.

The Pre-Trib Rapture 10 – Margaret McDonald

This is a commonly read blog post, and I’m guessing that it’s mostly Preterists looking for ammunition against Pre-Trib believers, judging from search terms they’re using. Sadly, this article pulls the fangs from their mouths!

just about every mid-trib, post trib or no-trib website always brings up Margaret McDonald.

Okay, let’s get that out of the way.

We’re constantly pointing out that there is nobody alive convinced of the rapture because of Margaret McDonald. Todd Strandberg did an article a few years back, about how he finally searched for this legendary girl who claims to have had a mystic vision in which, for the first time, someone saw a pre-trib rapture.

Okay, research here is the key. Todd Strandberg reports it almost was a “Where’s Waldo?” search, except that in the “Where’s Waldo” puzzles, he’s always right there where you can see him. In this case, it’s clear NONE of these anti-Rapture advocates have EVER researched the claim. Or, extremely embarrassed, they’d have withdrawn the claim.

For starters, her “Vision” is post-trib.

“uhhhh… wait, I’d always heard she saw a pre-trib rapture.”

So, you guys have made SO MUCH about her vision – and you NEVER EVEN READ IT! What amazes me is that Roman Catholic apologists always make snide remarks about a vision… but if she’d been a Roman Catholic, and the Virgin Mary had been central in it, there’d be pilgrimages, flowers, rosary beads, candles and incense offered at the place of MacDonald’s birth! Look, if your religion thrives on visions, attacking a straw man of visions is ill advised. Glass houses, stones, all that.

What’s the vision?

“I saw the people of God in an awfully dangerous situation. Now will the wicked one be revealed with all power…It will be a fiery trial…Nothing but what is of God will stand…I said, Now shall the awful sight of a false Christ be seen on this earth; and nothing but Christ in US can detect this awful attempt of the enemy to deceive…This is the trial through which those are to pass, who will be counted worthy to stand before the Son of Man…The trial of the Church is from Antichrist. It is by being filled with the Spirit that we shall be kept. I frequently said, Oh be filled with the Spirit – have the light of God within you, that you may DETECT satan…”

Um… this is post trib. That’s consistent with the teachings of the Irvingites, whom MacDonald belonged to. So, her prophecy was play-acting, to make her seem important – she’d learned their doctrine well, and to have her seeing a mystic vision that confirmed the teachings of the group was seized on. Amazingly, it reminds me of Seventh Day Adventism and Ellen G. White’s odd visions, that changed with the wind.

How can I say it’s post trib??? Well, the Irvingites were post trib. And MacDonald mentions the Antichrist, released in the first Seal – which is during the tribulation. “The trial of the church is from Antichrist… this is the trial through which those are to pass…”

Um… if the churchES are to be tried by the antichrist, well then, that places the rapture AFTER the Antichrist is done – which is at Christ’s second coming!

So… maybe Pre-Trib believers should be turning that around to attack post-tribbers, claiming “You all got it from the visions of a Scottish girl!” See how they like having to defend it!

There. Aren’t you post-tribbers embarrassed??? You made ALL THIS NOISE about MacDonald, viciously attacking that straw man argument… only to find out SHE SUPPORTS YOU, NOT PRE-TRIB BELIEVERS!

Next, we fail to see any quote from the person they say was the first advocate of the Pre-trib rapture, John Darby. Darby did advocate a pre-trib Rapture – but he tells how he was able to figure that out. It occurred to him as he studied the Bible that there was a difference between the churches and Israel. Once he’d understood that, it took little work to read through Revelation and see that suddenly the churches disappear from the earth, and God is working through Israel again. So, if there’s a difference between the churches and Israel, and Revelation starts out talking to the churches, then suddenly switches to Israel, and the churches cannot be found again until the end of Revelation – that means the BIBLE IS CLEARLY TEACHING THAT THE CHURCHES GO SOMEWHERE ELSE DURING ALMOST ALL OF REVELATION!

Sorry, don’t mean to shout, but the post-tribbers aren’t listening.

So, was Darby the first teacher of the Rapture?

Nope. A Southern Baptist preacher, who also agreed that MacDonald’s vision was post trib, first offered $500 for anyone who could offer proof of a pre trib rapture prior to 1830. He had to retract his offer when he found the writings of Emmanuel Lacunza. Lacunza taught it back in 1812. So the Baptist pastor, John Bray, offered the prize again, but this time before 1812.

He lost the money when someone gave him proofs of a book from 1744 published in England that taught a pre-trib rapture.

Well, what about this quote from before the year 370?

“For all the saints and Elect of God are gathered prior to the tribulation that is to come, and are taken to the Lord lest they see the confusion that is to overtake the world because of our sins.”

Ephraem of Nisibis wrote that, an early Christian writer of the Syrian Christians.

That’s.. a long time ago. It’s clearly pre-trib. Its clearly before the year 400. It’s an early Christian writer. And Juistin Martyr apparently was pre-trib as well, placing the teaching as far back as prior to AD 100.

Looks like the church was ALWAYS pre-trib, and that abandoning this belief was moving from the previously held position – apostasy.

Looks like you post-tribbers have some explaining to do.

Romans 4 Part 3

3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. 6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, 7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin. Romans 4:3-8 (KJV)

I’ve paraphrased this many times.

Eph. 2:10-11 says that Salvation is the gift of God and not of works, lest any man should boast.

Cross reference that with Romans 4:4-5

4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Romans 4:4-5 (KJV)

If you are doing works to “maintain” your salvation, you are showing that you are a debtor, and not someone of means.

Remember, “Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe, Sin had left a Crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.”

Jesus Christ paid all our sins. We owe nothing more to God. It is paid in full. The Bible word is propitiation, “satisfaction of a debt”.

If you are a debtor, it means that debt hasn’t been paid.

Not a good place to be when you die, and the Lord demands a reckoning. I don’t have to worry, because the Lord paid my debt for me.

But if you’re trying to work off your salvation by doing works, keeping the law, you are in a bad spot. You’re a debtor, and not someone who’s sin debt has been paid.

Only one person gets to earn the paycheck. It’s either you…

…or the Lord.
