The Jealousy of God

Short one today, but let me throw it at you.

The Lord describes Himself as Jealous. That description makes a lot of Christians uncomfortable.

Jealousy in fallen humans seems a petty emotion. We tend to think God is somehow petty and little for feeling that way.

however, at its core, Jealousy involves a rejection.

someone else got the raise, the promotion, that chance you’d wanted. Or the person you were infatuated with married someone else, and you feel rejected.

When you place anything else above God, He feels the rejection. The hurt. God loves you and wants to spend time with you. If we concentrate on “God is love”, we understand the limitless love God has for us. And its only natural He’d want to spend time with us.

so when we choose anything over God, He feels rejected. That feeling is called Jealousy. “Why are you spending so much time in watching football, and not with me?”

God feels rejected, and that feeling of “why that, and not me?” is called Jealousy.

Time spent reading your Bible is time spent with God.

time spent in prayer is time spent with God.

Time spent discussing the bible with other Christians is time spent with God.

We give God so little, and He gave us everything.

Apostasy reigns around us, churches are sliding into worldiness, a whitewashed Gospel is preached everywhere... "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV) So, I'm speaking out. ...Why aren't you???
