I grew up in an era where people grew their hair long, stopped bathing, wore colorful clothes, and often draped flowers on things and held up a victory sign as they wished one another, “peace!”
Well, can’t find any fault there. It was the other philosophies they had that were wrong, but they had THAT part right.
And that was what caused some problems in Vietnam. The American soldier was protecting these people, all the while agreeing with them. Peace IS good. The Bible speaks a lot about peace.
It’d be far better if America was more obsessed with planting flowers than pine boxes with the remains of some of the best fighting men the world had ever seen. But there were men out there who wanted to take our peace and freedom away. not having the resources to engage us on our shores, they planned on taking one country after another, and eventually using that as a means to gain strength to be able to do just that. It was called the Domino theory, and it was absolutely correct. By engaging these men in Korea and Vietnam, we forestalled that conflict for quite some time.
I’d really love to write a series on articles on the military and the efforts of Satan using political systems, but I think that’s a little far off subject for me.
Peace. Will there be peace? Yup. When Christ comes in His glory, and defeats His enemies, absolutely there’ll be peace.
Happiness? In this day and age, happiness is fleeting sometimes. The day will come when it will be perpetual.
Let’s talk about the wuv. We’re not showing an awful lot of love.
Researching some topics has shown me how hateful people can be. The presence of chat rooms started it, because you could finally say things to someone in a conversation without seeing the hurt in their face.
Then bulletin boards and Yahoo Groups and Yahoo clubs (which eventually got consolidated) meant you could post things, and have no immediate reaction.
People are hateful today. We were warned the love of many would grow cold. We had no idea that people would HATE.
I was researching a subject recently, and since a good number of links on Google and Yahoo lead you to bulletin boards, I saw exchanges that were little less than one person spitting hatred in another person’s face. And the other person responded in kind.
Researching another topic showed me how absolutely malicious people can be. If I play a guitar and prefer say, the Dorian mode, and some other idiot wants to pay the Lydian mode, why, he’s an unshaved barbarian, he has body odor, his dog hates him, and his mother dresses him funny! But he says I wear black socks with sneakers, and thinks that I prefer Green Acres to the Rat Patrol!
Stupid, isn’t it?
Thank the Lord the US government is not issuing swords to everyone – we’d hack one another to death in a matter of minutes.
What is wrong with us???
what is wrong with ME???
43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? 47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? 48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:43-48 (KJV)
These words have not gone away. The world is going to get MORE hateful.
Reality check: Understand this – people have taken their own lives over things said, whether wrongly or rightly – on the internet.
Disagree with erroneous doctrine. go ahead, the Bible tells you to do so. And separate from those who do. But understand, Jesus Christ loves that person. And so should you.
My Lord willingly, for just that one person, went to the cross to suffer and die. Jesus Christ, out of love for everyone that has argued with me on my blog, suffered and died. Out of love.
Jesus Christ willingly, suffered and died. For every person that commented nicely on my blog, and for those who also said nasty things that I didn’t let go through.
Jesus Christ, out of love for EVERY person on this earth, suffered and died. For every person, whether they would respond or not. That’s awe inspiring, to suffer and die for your enemies. Who are the enemies of Jesus Christ?
Everyone on this earth. We all were enemies of the cross, because of our sins.
And He died for you anyway.
35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:35-40 (KJV)
We’re all so busy. But it’s better to unplug and help someone. Get off the Internet for just one day, and go help someone. you don’t have to look far. There’s someone in your church that’s hurting, struggling. Go help them.
10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Romans 13:10 (KJV)
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 1 John 4:11 (KJV)
