aving dealt with the Human Messiah objection, let’s turn next to the Modalistic argument. THis will be short, as I pretty much also destroyed the Modalistic argument yesterday as well.
27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. 28 Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. 29 The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him. 30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes. John 12:27-30 (KJV)
um… that’s God in Heaven… and Christ on earth at the same time.
Therefore, God cannot be one being, but rather one God revealed in three persons, the Trinity.
6 Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre. 7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Psalm 45:6-7 (KJV)
Jesus Christ and God the Father talking. If it’s one God expressed in one person, why would God talk to Himself? It makes more logical sense as one God revealed in Three persons.
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Luke 1:35 (KJV)
You’ve got God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Ghost all in one verse.
7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. 1 John 5:7-8 (KJV)
There. The trinity.
16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me. Isaiah 48:16 (KJV)
The Trinity. Jesus Christ speaking prophetically, God and His Spirit spoken of by God the Son.
So much for all the Oneness people, who triumphantly shout there’s not one verse in the Bible that teaches a Trinity. So far you’ve had several.
16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Matthew 3:16-17 (KJV)
The most common objection is, “The Trinity is too hard to understand!”
So, because you don’t understand it, you object to it? We don’t go by faith, reason, tradition, we go by Bible, Bible, Bible. If the Bible says and you object because you don’t understand, there’s a rebelliousness issue, bottom line.
forever is a long time to be wrong. repent.
Bottom line – Jesus is God. We’ve covered the objections. If you refuse to accept it, then you have nobody to blame for your future suffering but yourself.
