Messianic Judaism 35 The Deity of Christ

The denial of Christ in Messianic Judaism is rampant. I’ve seen several articles in which Messianics decry the phenomea, wondering why it happened.

Let me explain your possibilities…

  1. They were not saved in the first place…
  2. or they were saved, and denied Christ

Scripture tells us that we cannot lose our salvation (it is not ours to lose.) So if you cannot lose your salvation, then to deny Christ, we end up with the situation where we have to come to terms with this. No man can, of God, deny Christ. Yet it happens so rapidly, in subtle ways, in the Messianic movement, that we have to come to the conclusion that they could not have been saved in the first place. Otherwise the verses in Hebrews 9 would take on a whole new meaning, one that would imply that if you lose your salvation once, that’s it – you have no more chances.

But Scripture tells us more than this – this is why we have to rightly divide the word of God. You not only have to read all verses on Salvation to understand Soteriology, you also have to read all the verses on the Gospel, and upon bearing fruit, as the Apostles examined that as well.

Let’s say that a Messianic denies Christ, leaves the movement, and years later comes back, has a born again experience, and suddenly seems to be bearing fruit. The entire salvation experience seems different this time – they’re driven by “Sola Scriptura”, seem to be far more involved in their church now… they’re bearing fruit as a Christian. Fruit they never bore before.

If you believe one can lose their salvation, you now have a quandary. Because that would mean the verses in Hebrews 9 and in Galatians where Paul says “I am afraid lest I labored among you in vain” would imply then that you have ONE SHOT – do not deny Christ, because that’s IT. But now you’re bearing fruit as an apparent born again Christian, giving all the evidences we look for that say, “yes, this person is indeed saved – I have no doubts.”

The only conclusion you can come to is – this person is saved. Which means they must not have been born again.

This isn’t Lordship Salvation I’m talking. Go listen to John Macarthur for a few days, and you’ll hear what Lordship Salvation is from him. Middletown Bible church has a great deal of material on Lordship Salvation that are excellent on saying what it is and is not.

Okay, the issue starts with the liturgical singing of the Shema, Deut. 6:4-8: “Hear o Israel, the Lord your God, the Lord is one” is how most Messianic scriptures translate this verse. But the Bible actually says it slightly differently…

4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: Deuteronomy 6:4 (KJV)

שׁמע ישׂראל יהוה אלהינו יהוה אחד׃

the difference is very subtle – from the King James one gets a feel of the unity of the Trinity. Remember, you have to read all the verses on the trinity to understand Trinitarianism. Modern Bible mistranslations all deny the deity of Christ, and issue that should have Baptist pastors telling their congregations to throw away all their NASB’s and NIV’s etc.

To understand the deity of Crist, you have to read ALL the verses on the deity of Christ, the holy Spirit, and God. You have to read all the verses on the incarnation, and the humanness of Christ as well.

To truly understand Christ, welll… you’d have to be Christ. I cannot at all times wrap my brain around every facet of Christ, His humanness and His Godhood at the same time.

The Bible says that Christ has eternally been God. Can a human being become God? No. So how did Christ become God?

He didn’t. He always was God.

“So, there’s one God, then! Just one, appearing as God the father at one time, then God the Son, then God the Holy Spirit!”

No, that limits God. The God of the Bible transcends time and space requirements. The modalist God is limited, the God of the Bible is not.

Failure to understand simple Pleumatology, Theology and Christology leads many Messianics to sink to denying Christ. Because here’s the second mindset we add to Messianics”

  1. It is Messianic Judaism
  2. It is a part of Judaism, not Christianity
  3. Judaism does not believe in a trinity
  4. therefore, I don’t either
  5. there is a Trinity taught in the Bible
  6. so I have to explain it.
  7. Jesus Christ appears to be divine
  8. I have to reconcile these irreconcileable facts
  9. Christ deniers go to Hell
  10. Therefore, I’m going to Hell.

The Christ denying Messianic (not all messianics can be described in this manner – but the word “Rampant” has to be used in conjunction with this phenomenon)

The issue most Messianics are unaware of is the phenomena known as the Hypostatic union. The Correct view of Christ is “Wholly God and wholly Man”. This is known as the hypostatic union. Study of this phenomena in Seminary produced one month of absolute migraine headaches, as it was so hard to describe and put into words – and yet, it was the only way to describe ALL the verses on Christ’s Deity.

So, Messianics align themselves with Judaism. Here’s a newsflash for you:

24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. John 8:24 (KJV)

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:17-18 (KJV)

Turning to Judaism, who rejects the Lord Jesus Christ to their own peril, to understand correct theology, pneumatology and Christology, is like turning to the Jehovah’s Witnesses to understand those same three subjects.

We do not turn to the writings of the unSaved to understand crucial subjects that have bearing upon whether or not one is saved – we turn to the Bible. Scriptura Sola. Only the Bible. And because the men who compiled the Critical text of the modern Bibles were Christ deniers themselves, they deliberately worked with manuscripts which removed those verses to affirm not only the deity of Christ, but also the trinity.

I really recommend examining my statement of faith. Yes, it’s huge, because it’s very detailed – but you know where I stand on all the major doctrines.

Don’t trust a three paragraph statement of faith, It can hide too many heresies.

So, here’s the problem. Too many Messianics are men pleasers.

6 Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees. Matthew 16:6 (KJV)

They become concerned because Messianic Judaism is all about Judaism – and Judaism says it does not believe in a trinity. So, as a result, Messianics tend towards denying Christ.

And then there’s the Holy Name groups – all obsessed with Yahshua, and Yahvoh, Yahveh, Yahweh, Yaohuouwahwah, Wa-wa, Yaohuoshuawa, ingingclickclick, and whatever. If you come under a conviction that God’s name is Yahweh, or YHVH, or Yahveh, that’s oka,y I guess.

It’s when you need to adopt some weird name, or start insisting that Jesus is not God we have problems. I’ve heard it all – “Jee Zeus is not god!” they shout. “Yaohushuawawa is!”

I’ve asked before – how is that not a denial of Christ? How will you escapte Hell? You’re going to stand there on Judgment day and wait for ingingclickclick to save you – and no such person exists. Or Yaohushuawawa. Or whatever is the latest name everyones insisting on.

being wrong about salvation is forever, and forever lasts a long long time.

And then there’s the rampant Oneness modalistic heresy within Messianicdom. “Yeshua is God.” They say, and it sounds good… until you ask, “Do you believe in the Trinity?” They’ll avoid answering that question.

I’d like a yes or no answer – do you believe in the trinity?

If you require an explanation beyond “Yes” or “no”… we have issues. Big time issues.

Because I’m telling you, you’re denying Christ.

If your belief is that Yeshua is God the Father YHVH in a different mode or reality or (whatever…) – anything besides “Do you believe in the Trinity” and an honest “Yes” answer – you’re not going to heaven.

Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

Apostasy reigns around us, churches are sliding into worldiness, a whitewashed Gospel is preached everywhere...
