One thing I’ve learned over the last… has it been a full year yet, I wonder?
I’ve learned it’s absolutely amazing how few people know their Bible.
You know, it’s a simple concept. The Bible explains God’s will. You want to know God’s will? read the Bible.
Some people talk about “I want to know God’s will for my life!!!”
Well, let me give you a basic clue – if you’re asking that question, it means God’s probably calling you into a ministry.
I probably just got a lot of people’s attention. Let me explain. There are a lot of people sitting in the average Baptist church, not even WORRIED about God’s plan for their life. They got saved, they’re grateful, God is good, Hallelujah!
What;s wrong with them? How can they be that complacent??? Well, the answers simple – nothing’s wrong with them. They’re not complacent. They have no call on their life. They may get motivated to “I want to help the church in some way!!!” Good call!
But if the first thoughts in your head after you get saved is, “What does God want for my life???” and it won’t go away, and you feel like you’re going to DIE if someone doesn’t just tell you what it is… Then the very sensation your feeling is the answer.
It’s the call of God.
Let me quote a Scripture that will explain what you’re feeling.
16 For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! 1 Corinthians 9:16 (KJV)
Yup. It’s how I feel. “Woe is unto me, if I preach not the Gospel!!!”
Necessity is laid upon me – woe is unto me, if I preach not the Gospel. I do it because I HAVE to. It’s something I’m driven to do!
If you have that feeling… welcome to the Ministry. If you can do anything else, do that. But if necessity is laid upon you, and woe is you if you preach not the Gospel… welcome to the ministry.
If you think that pastoring is easy work, and wow, it’d be nice to do that for a living! Beats painting houses, man! Ya wear a suit and read from a Bible, yessir, that’s for me! If those are your thoughts, my advice is – become a stockbroker or something. It’s easy to find high paying jobs, look them up, figure out what training you need, and got get it and do it!
But if you find yourself in your spare time writing up plans for your congregation when it happens… welcome to the ministry.
Pastors pastor because they’re a pastor, and God placed that desire within them. We’ve got a lot of compromising pastors, men pleasing pastors, and man-centered and liberal pastors. We need Godly pastors, men who are committed to the cause of Christ, to calling men to need, read and heed the Bible! And that pastor needs to read, heed and feed the Bible.
Was I just talking about you?
