Are people actually reading these articles???

I’ve got to wonder. Last week I was writing on revival, separating from the world, and pursuing holiness.

I write an article called “Meditation”, calling it a pagan practice, described it as dangerous, and explained why Christians should never meditate.

Two New Age enthusiasts promptly clicked like.

Insert whatever mental image you’d like here of my head promptly exploding. Did you people READ the article before you clicked like? I can see Fundamentalists clicking “like”, because most of them agree with me Christianity should never be mixed with pagan practices, ever. Even the most cursory reading of the Bible makes that impression clear if you’ve read all 66 books.

I can only assume the New Age types were thinking, “Good! We don’t want those Christian folk spoiling our good time!”

Or more likely, they didn’t even skim the article, just clicked “like” on their way to visiting 10,000 other blogs with similar titles.

People, I suggest you read the article before clicking “like”. After all, you may not like what I just wrote!

Mormonism Answered 5

Yesterday, I raised even more uncomfortable questions about Joseph Smith.

Let’s deal with what the Gospel is. If it’s the same as the Gospel as presented in the Book of Mormon, then we might possibly have some common ground to deal with, and merely ask Mormons to reject the silliness of the Joseph Smith stories.

What is the Gospel?

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV)

That’s the Gospel.

What do you have to do in response to the Gospel?

17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Matthew 4:17 (KJV)

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 (KJV)

24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. John 8:24 (KJV) 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:3 (KJV)

In other words, you must repent, believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ that only He is the way of Salvation, trust in Him alone for Salvation , and be born again.

What does the LDS “church”/mormonism teach?

“Redemption from death, through the sufferings of Christ, is for all men, both the righteous and the wicked” (Mormon Doctrine, 1977 ed., p.65, as quoted from Contender Ministries)

“As man now is, God once was. As God now is, man may become.”

So, Mormonism teaches that everyone is saved (universalism) and that Man may become God by earning it through works and obedience.

not the same Gospel at all!

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:8-9 (KJV)

The Bible is specific there is only one way to Heaven, through Jesus Christ. If you do not accept Him, you are not saved. The Bible says He does all the work, all we must do is repent, trust Him, believe in Him, and be born again. What could be simpler?

Well, the Mormon doctrine is that all men are saved, even the wicked, and that through works and obedience men may become gods. This can be found nowhere in the Bible. The Bible also says if any man or Angel preach a different Gospel, they are accursed. The Bible also says the faith was completed and delivered to us (Jude 1:3) and that we are not to add to the Bible.

But the LDS “church” has added not only the Book of Mormon, but also Doctrines and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price – in violation of Scripture. The LDS “church” preaches another Gospel. And where did this “Gospel” come from? Who is the author of it?

4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. Genesis 3:4-5 (KJV)

Clearly, we have something here that is completely different from Christianity.

So, lets ask some questions…

Why would God need to write the Pearl of Great Price, Doctrines and Covenants, and the Book of Mormon? Why not just include all of those doctrines in the Bible, if He were the author? Why would LDS doctrines contradict the Bible, if God was the author? Why no trace or mention of any of the Mormon doctrines in the Bible, no mention of the Temple ceremonies, etc???

Why would God write His Holy Bible and not put Mormon doctrines in it, if He truly was the author of it? It fits and conforms to paganism far more readily than does the gospel, and would be easier to accept than the simple plan of salvation according to Jesus Christ!

The conclusion I have to make is… God is not the author. The politest I can be is to say that Joseph Smith copied another man’s writings (we’ll get to that soon enough) to form the Book of Mormon, included large portions of the King James Bible taken out of context, and the rest made up himself.

i’m afraid that the truth is probably more evil than that, and that Satan was probably directing and coaching Joseph Smith in all his works.

If Joseph Smith advocates doctrines contrary to the word of God, how is this the will of God?

19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19 (KJV)

God tells us from the start how He wants things. the Book of Hebrews explains that the old testament saints were saved, the same as we are – by Faith in Jesus Christ. They trusted God, and were saved.

26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. Genesis 1:26 (KJV)

The Bible draws a distinction between man and God. God is eternally existant, and Man is created.

33 And Abraham planted a grove in Beersheba, and called there on the name of the LORD, the everlasting God. Genesis 21:33 (KJV)

15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations. Exodus 3:15 (KJV)

26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out. Job 36:26 (KJV)

13 Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen. Psalm 41:13 (KJV)

2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. Psalm 90:2 (KJV)

God has always existed as God. He is without beginning and without end. God is not a man living on a planet named Kolob, He is a spirit, dwelling both in and outside of our Universe, everywhere at once, Heaven His throne, and the Earth His footstool.

But the LDS advocates a different god with the same name and title. The Hebrew word for “mighty” Elohim, is attributed as the official name of the Mormon god. God,s real name, YHVH, is attributed to Jesus Christ.

Well, yeah, to an extent they are right. the name YHVH should be attributed to Jesus Christ. However, the Mormons portray God as having the name “Elohim” and Jesus as YHVH, as if they are different men.

That’s a blasphemy. God is not a man. God is eternally God, from before time was created. And while Jesus Christ is wholly God and wholly Man, in what is called the Hypostatic Union, to say that He is just a man is a denial of His deity. To say that Jesus Christ is the son of God because of intercourse with Mary is to attribute sin to both God and Jesus Christ – and I wouldn’t want to have to answer to God on Judgment Day about that very accusation! I’m pretty sure the suffering of anyone in Hell for all eternity who makes such a claim is going to be far more intense than what others go through!

I would not want to be Joseph Smith right now, nor would I want to be him at the Great White Throne judgment. It’s going to be bad. And little consolation for any Mormon on that day to see Joseph Smith cast into hell with you…

repent. depart from Mormonism while there’s still time! You have not a guarantee of another minute in this world! Repent, and believe in the Jesus Christ of the Bible to save you! Call upon His name, and ask His forgiveness, and trust He and He alone to save you!
