I guess while I’m on the “Revival” kick, let’s talk about the single biggest problem facing Christians.
27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. James 1:27 (KJV)
As I pointed out yesterday, everyone keeps talking about, “The church needs revival.” Well, yes, every church needs revival desperately today. We’re running out of time before the Rapture. We need to get it straight, and spread the Gospel. Let’s get as many as we can in thh Rapture. I remind you all that the third seal, probably only six months into the Tribulation or so, will cause 1.5 billion deaths. The more we get saved is more we prevent from going into the Tribulation to begin with! Because the fifth deal, almost a year in, will see the wholesale martyrdom and murder of countless Christians. We may be talking about millions.
Right now, we’re not going to be reaching many. We need to get and stay prayed up.
Listening to a sermon last night, I heard a pastor teaching, “the issue is not the music, the TV, the (whatever), it;s that we got away from Jesus.” I understood the theme of his message, and to a certain extent, he’s right.
You can read Philip Dean talking about avoiding the polluting effects of tv. Why is it that people who’ve given up tv always advocate giving up TV, by the way? Because if you’ve gotten rid of yours, you’ll have noticed some of your attitudes changing on certain things. Which means there’s an indoctrination going on there. But I’m going to let that go.
The problem is, there’s a mental outline everyone has, a myriad of differing thoughts and reasons. You take small amounts from each thought and reason and assemble them to put into speech or writing for anyone to read. But you’re not privy to all my thoughts, because these pages would be VERY long.
So when I tell you things to avoid, you can misinterpret that and get into a legalistic thing – “I’ll be revived if I just do the things I read yesterday.”
Well, did you see that nine letter word over and over again? Repentance. That was the key word. Involved in that word is the thought that you need to move back to God. Of course, if you’re involved in things you shouldn’t be, and God seems so far away – who moved?
Well, of course, we all know the answer. You did. You walked from God. And we know from the Prodigal Son that God is always ready to welcome back any of us that have backslidden.
So what does it take? Get back to God. Get back to the Lord Jesus Christ.
That was the point of yesterday’s oft-repeated injunction to get back to the word of God – deliberate ingestion of God’s word will keep spiritual things in front of your eyes. This is the next step, and it keeps you in the resolve to stay close to God. If revival is a thing that doesn’t stick with you, guess what? The 17 chapters a day of Scripture thing you did as a one-time through is going to have to become a more regular habit. So, how are you going to find that time?
Less TV and Internet. That’s what it boils down to. Most people get at least 3 hours a day of TV watching. If you gave that up, you’d have how much time to read your Bible?
Find the time where you need to. Again, the Rapture is SCARY close. We have NO idea how many hours, days, weeks, months, years we have left. I’d tell you my guess, but I’m probably wrong. I haven’t gone through and tried day-age calculations, I’ve just read the signs of the times and I can tell you that we’re REALLY close.
Why is everyone so excited about the building of a full scale mockup of the Temple in Israel? Answer – it’s not a mockup. The foundations of where it’s at is a mockup. The building itself is not, and they’re constructing it in such a way that once completed, could be moved block by block to the Temple mount in a matter of days, and reassembled. How long would it take? Maybe a year.
how much time do we have left? I dunno. But this ought to be inspiring you as if alarm bells were wringing for you to be less worldly.
The first thought you’re going to have after the Rapture besides, “I made it!” is… “Now I can no longer witness to anyone.”
I sometimes cannot understand Christians. The very thought that dozens of people, every second, are awakening in Hell to eternal torment is the most horrific thought I can think of. And many of those are people who thought themselves Christians. How many Jehovah’s Witnesses are now convinced of Hell and eternal punishment? Answer: Every one that did not get born again and leave the JW’s before they died. And seeing how few leave the Organization, I’d say it’s somewhere around 90 to 95% of Witnesses that have died.
how many Mormons have died and gone to eternal punishment? Same answer. How many Roman Catholics? Ssame answer.
Scary question – how many Protestants? If they relied on church membership or the unBiblical sprinkling of water to save them – 100% of those. That’s horrific, that they went to church regularly, participated, even taught Sunday School – but because they said, “We’re Lutheran or Episcopal or Presbyterian and don’t believe in that born again nonsense…” and taught others that same thing – the number remains 100%, unless they got born again.
How many Buddhists and Shintoists and Taoists and Maoists and Atheists and Agnostics and Jainists and Hinduists and Dentists? Same answer – if they did not become born again Christians, same answer. 100% died and went to Hell.
Jews? Same answer.
Baptists? If you are not born again, same answer. You will die and go to Hell. And it will be the same for you as for the Jainist and the Mormon and the Catholic and the Wiccan and the… you see what I’m saying. You must be born again.
So, a crucial part of Revival is kneeling at that altar. Make sure you’re born again.
next, get everyone born again that you can. Forget “lifestyle evangelism”. That’s a cowards way out. Yes, I know, you’re the only Bible some people will ever read. And those people are going to Hell if you don’t SAY SOMETHING!!!
Tomorrow we’re going to look more closely at withdrawing from the world.
