Jehovah’s Witnesses Answered 2

The first place Jehovah’s Witnesses will go is always to the Bible – and I commend you for it! We must check every belief against the Bible. And the JW is diligent in their study of the Bible (their translation) for which I commend them.

There’s major problems with the Bbiel used by Jehovah’s Witnesses. They claim it is the most accurate translation you can get. However, that claim is going to fall apart rapidly.

Who was on the translation committee of the New World Translation?

“a translation committee of experienced anointed Christians was organized to produce the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures in English.” (Watchtower, October 15, 1997, How the Bible Came to Us, p 11-12)

Notice the words – Experienced, anointed Christians. Experienced in what? Bible Translation? Are you saying that heretics such as Carlo Martini and Bruce Metzger made the New World translation?

No, I think in this regard the Jehovah’s Witnesses are smarter than most Christians – they would not permit a Roman Catholic on the translation committee of their Bible, nor would they allow men who question the inspiration of the Bible on their committee either! Why WE permit them is a question I still have not been able to answer! But then again, I’m educated on these issues, and most Christians are not.

So men like Black, Martini and Metzger are not anointed. At least the JW’s make a claim most Christians cannot. “Good on ya, mate!” as the Aussies would say. However, since the JW’s do not make the list of names available (which suggests dishonesty) – we are unable to check the claim and verify if they are indeed devout Christians or not.

However, there are several doctrinal claims one must adhere to to be a Christian. One must accept the Trinity and the Divinity of Christ – Which JW’s by their own admission do not. So, one third of the description used by the JW’s is revealed false. The description should read “Jehovah’s Witnesses” – since the JW’s do not accept most of the cardinal doctrines of the Bible, they cannot call themselves Christians.

This then GREATLY calls into question the second word of the description. As the Jehovah’s Witnesses do not accept the Holy Spirit as God… we have now a problem. They cannot be anointed either, unless they are saying the translators were anointed with oil. And one who denies Christ will not be given the Holy Spirit, as the Bible makes it clear one must accept the Godhood of Jesus Christ to be saved. So now we have to render the description as “Experienced Jehovah’s Witnesses”.

That brings us back to the first word – experienced in what? Most of the translators of the new Bibles are or were heretics (some have gone to their final punishments). Are they saying they used men like this to translate their Bible?

No, they used men from their own ranks. So, the word “Experienced” cannot refer to “Experience in Bible translation”. The claim is now a deliberate mistatement of truth – in short, it is a boldfaced lie.

16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. Exodus 20:16 (KJV)

1 Thou shalt not raise a false report: put not thine hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. 2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment: Exodus 23:1-2 (KJV)

11 Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another. Leviticus 19:11 (KJV)

12 And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:12 (KJV)

44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. John 8:44 (KJV)

25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. Ephesians 4:25 (KJV)

29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. Ephesians 4:29 (KJV)

9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; Colossians 3:9 (KJV)

9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, 10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; 11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust. 1 Timothy 1:9-11 (KJV)

1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 1 Timothy 4:1-2 (KJV)

8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Revelation 21:8 (KJV)

I beg the Jehovah’s Witnesses indulgence in this, that I not list every verse in the Bible against lying, as this post would be HUGE and difficult to get through. If this is not satisfactory, I will edit this post and add all of the verses. Please let me know.

So, the statement on who translated the NWT (uncomfortably close to the New World Order, in my book) now has to read… “Jehovah’s Witnesses”, as they were not experienced, not anointed and not Christians.

What it means is that the JW’s claim the Bible was translated by inspiration of the Holy Spirit. This would be a good thing to claim, however, again, it can only apply to Christians.

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. 8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? John 14:6-9 (KJV)

24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. 25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning. John 8:24-25 (KJV)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1 (KJV)

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14 (KJV)

5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? 6 And again, when he bringeth in the firstbegotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him. Hebrews 1:5-6 (KJV)

10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. 12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. 1 John 4:10-14 (KJV)

8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. Psalm 40:8 (KJV)

21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness’ sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honourable. Isaiah 42:21 (KJV)

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:8 (KJV)

8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. 9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Hebrews 1:8-9 (KJV)

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1:23 (KJV)

43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying, 44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? 45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son? Matthew 22:43-45 (KJV)

14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14 (KJV)

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

5 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. 6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Jeremiah 23:5-6 (KJV)

17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. 18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. John 5:17-18 (KJV)

58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. 59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by. John 8:58-59 (KJV)

30 I and my Father are one. 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. John 10:30-33 (KJV)

8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Revelation 1:8 (KJV)

58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. John 8:58 (KJV) 5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. John 17:5 (KJV) 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. Colossians 1:16-17 (KJV)

6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 (KJV) 2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting. Micah 5:2 (KJV)

8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty. Revelation 1:8 (KJV)

So what are left with? Almost nothing, at this point.

I have to take serious issue with the fact that aside from former Governing Body member Raymond Franz, we are not really told the names of the translators of the NWT. Fred Franz should not have been involved – frankly, to be honest, a member of a translating committee who cannot read Hebrew or Greek should not be translating. I’ve had one year of Greek and one year of Hebrew, and I would not accept an offer to be on a Bible translating committee, as my skills are not up to the challenge – and I am far more skilled than Franz! Ray Franz claims that Fred Franz had two years of Greek, which is insufficient to attempt a Bible translation. The complexities of Koine Greek are such that only someone with a doctorate in it should attempt it. I am told that most Gentiles have a great deal of trouble trying to learn Hebrew – it was easy for me, so it must be genetic.

Ray Franz would describe the process as they “passed to the Holy Spirit who, invisible, communicates with Jehovah’s Witnesses – and the publicity department.” Well, how is this different from Joseph Smith’s “Seer stone” and the “instant knowledge” he would get, looking at imaginary “Reformed Egyptian” Hieroglyphics? That’s some feat, translating a language that not only have you never learned that doesn’t even exist!

So far, we’re having major problems with the NWT. It is claimed by the Watchtower Society to be the most accurate translation – and yet the only name we have for a translator lacks any knowledge or skill in Koine Greek or Hebrew. Indeed, in court, he was unable to translate any Hebrew, recognize a single word, nor even identify a single letter – after purjuring himself in a court of law claiming he knew Hebrew and Greek. It’s amazing the Judge did not throw Franz in jail for a year for felonious perjury.

Ray Franz does give us the names of the translating committe – Nathan Knorr, Albert Schroeder, George Gangas, Fred Franz, and M. Henschel. According to Ray Franz, only Fred Franz knew any Grreek or Hebrew – and you’ve already seen how extensive that knowledge is!
