Correct Doctrine 9

3.2. God is Father in truth to those who are the children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. (Mat. 5:9, Luke 20:36, John 11:52, Rom. 8:16-17, 21, 9:8,26, Gal. 3:26, 1 John 3:10)

3.3. God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9, Gal. 3:26, John 6:29)

It’s amazing how much of doctrine is the kind of stuff that gets real Christians all weepy! Today’s instruction is partly a recognizing of who God is, and a salvation message.

If you think like a Fundamentalist, it’s amazing how, when you reflect on the awesome majesty of God, the Holiness of God, and the eventual Judgment that the Bible speaks of so often – you reflect on, “Wow, if I were God, I’d have wiped us all out the 1000th time we all sinned!”

Seeing as how I’d probably sinned a thousand times by the time I was maybe 5 years old, it shows you two things – the utter depravity of the human being, and the incredible love and forgiveness that God is EAGER to show to all of us!

All you have to do is repent. Acknowledge you’re a sinner. Admit to God that you are worthy of nothing more than eternity in Hell.

Now, STOP and think about that for a few minutes. Really think about yourself in Hell, for all eternity. The unending torment, the quickly dawning terror as you realize YOU’RE NOT GETTING OUT OF HERE, EVER!

And then you’ll understand.

The Lord Jesus Christ came to Earth and died, becoming the offering for your sins, so that you wouldn’t have to go to Hell.

God loves you. He made it so EASY. All you have to do is accept His sacrifice for you. Turn your life around and accept Him. Take His yoke upon you. The burden indeed is easy and light.

If you’ve done that… 3.2 is talking about God’s new relationship with you. You now have that spirit of adoption, that makes you cry out, “Abba, Father!”

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26 (KJV) Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. John 6:29 (KJV)

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9 (KJV)

Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection. Luke 20:36 (KJV)

And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad. John 11:52 (KJV)

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. Romans 8:16-17 (KJV)

Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. Romans 8:21 (KJV)

That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. Romans 9:8 (KJV)

And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God. Romans 9:26 (KJV)

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26 (KJV)

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. 1 John 3:10 (KJV)

Seminary graduate with a Ba. in Theology/Pastoral Studies, Happily married, Independent Baptist. I can't keep silent about what I see going on in Christianity any longer! Apostasy reigns around us, churches are sliding into worldiness, a whitewashed Gospel is preached everywhere... "Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV) So, I'm speaking out. ...Why aren't you???
