  • Modern Tongues have been studied by language experts and declared not a real language.
  • Modern tongues have been described as essentially the same as pagan speaking in tongues
  • supposed “raisings from the dead” are apparently unverifiable – nobody is forthcoming with the names, or even the persons themselves.
  • claims of amputees being healed also are unverifiable.
  • serious birth defects apparently cannot be healed by these faith healers.
  • Most Pentecostal healings amount to back pains and headaches, and have the healing powers of aspirin
  • The tongues movement originates from the Shiloh group in Durham/Lisbon Falls Maine and Frank Sandford.
  • Death, disease and suffering clung to all of the originators of the movement, whether themselves or their immediate followers.
  • The god of the Word Faith movement does not have all power and all knowledge, and therefore is not the God of the Bible
  • the god of the Word Faith movement has faith in something other than himself, and is not the God of the Bible
  • Most Word Faith teachers deny either the Trinity or the Godhood of the Lord Jesus Christ

  • The redemption was finished on the cross
  • the blood of the thieves could not have atoned for our sins
  • Jesus did not go into Hell, but rather took those in Abraham’s bosom to heaven.
  • The Spiritual Death of Jesus doctrine is Blasphemy
  • The Lord Jesus Christ cannot cease to be God, or He was not God in the first place
  • We are human beings, not gods.
  • we cannot ever be gods
  • We are created beings
  • The Lord Jesus Christ is not a created being, but existed eternally with the Father.
  • The Lord Jesus Christ is not a sinner, and never sinned.
  • The penalty of our sins fell upon the Lord, not our actual sin
  • The Lord Jesus Christ became a sin offering, not a sinner.
  • As such, the Lord Jesus Christ did not need to be born again.
  • To say the Lord Jesus Christ was “the first born again man” is a blasphemy, and is a denial of Jesus Christ.
  • Satan and his devils are on earth and walking in heaven… not in Hell, as the Word Faith teachers teach.
  • we cannot order God to do anything.
  • If your god is someone you can order like a genie from a lamp, then he’s not the God of the Bible, but either a figment of your imagination or a devil.
  • All Word Faith teachers add to the Word of God, through prophecies, and through the claim to direct divine knowledge that supersedes or surpasses the Bible because “God told me” or “God told Kenneth Hagin..” or “God told Kenneth Copeland.”
  • Word Faith doctrine is uncanny in its resemblance to witchcraft, and features necromancy, divination, demonic possession, spell casting, cursing enemies, and familiar spirits.

By now, even the most ardent Word Faith proponent should be hesitant to continue embracing Word Faith.

Let’s discuss the next controversy – demonic possession. Can any Charismatic show me anywhere in the Bible, where people shook their heads violently, over and over again as a manifestation of God’s power? It simply does not exist.

Then why do many Charismatics support such a demonic manifestation as from God?

1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. Matthew 28:1-4 (KJV)

Like the “slain in the spirit” phenomenon, the only Biblical example of this is of the enemies of God.

4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? 5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. 6 As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground. John 18:4-6 (KJV)

“Signs of Kundalini Awakening: There are various signs and symptoms of Kundalini Awakening, and these may be of varying duration and intensity. Some of the experiences may seem similar to those of Prana flowing in Sushumna, though the intensity is quite different. The specific experiences may also vary from person to person, and the words used to describe the experiences may be different. The nature of the experience is also affected by the degree to which the individual chakras are involved in the energy increase. However, there are some general signs and symptoms that are commonly reported:

  • Involuntary jerkiness or shaking in the body
  • Intense feelings of pleasure or bliss
  • Feelings of cold in the body
  • Intense heat in the spine, or a particular chakra, as if molten metal were flowing in the spine
  • Striking flows of energy, like electricity or internal lightning bolts
  • Feelings like snakes or ants crawling on the body, particularly along the
  • spine, or between the feet and head
  • Mudras (hand gestures), Bandhas (locks), Asanas (postures), or
  • Pranayama (breathing practices) may come spontaneously rather than being intentionally practiced
  • A sense of confusion or uncertainty about what is happening in these experiences
  • Spontaneous emotional shifts or mood swings
  • Increase in the experience of inner colors and lights
  • Inner sounds, such as musical instruments, buzzing, roaring, or thunder
  • Waves of creative, intellectual, or spiritual insights

From Kundalini Awakening, http://www.swamij.com/kundalini-awakening-4.htm

This is from a demonic practice, called Kundalini. I’m definitely not the first person to notice it.

Compare this description of the phenomenon from a Charismatic church:

‘…one minister, after shaking for about 45 minutes, screamed at the top of his voice, “Don’t touch me, you’ll get electrocuted!” Others were on the floor rolling or laughing or shaking under the power of God.’ Of another pastor’s experience, with whom this pastor said he had prayed for one morning, without any ‘powerful manifestations’ at that time, he said, ‘…When he tried to start the meeting (in his own church) that night he was struck dumb and, then, all he could do was laugh!’ The response of this same pastor, in answering the question, ‘How is it possible that people can be changed by lying on the floor, rolling, or laughing or shaking,’ is very intriguing. He responds, ‘Well, if the power of God touches you, it’s like 20,000 volts (of electricity) trying to go through a piece of fuse wire something has to give!'” (The Gospel Truth, Vol. 13 No. 1, January 1996)

Notice the description is identical to the Kundalini manifestation!

The man then started to flap his coat, saying “Oh, it’s hot” (another supposed sign of the presence of God!) as he continued to show signs of heat. He was laughing throughout, as was everyone else. (Christian Doctrine website, http://www.christiandoctrine.net)

The practice of chanting is often used to begin the awakening of the Kundalini power. Many of the praise songs used in the beginning of word Faith services feature often repetitive lyrics, sometimes a bridge or a chorus that is a single sentence spoken over and over again. Incidentally, this is identical with self-hypnosis as well. The person at a Word Faith service is rendered into a state of suggestibility. This is often reinforced by the pastor exhorting “don’t analyze this! Don’t question it! You’ll hold it back!”

Counterfeit Revival leader Rick Joyner confessed that at one of his conferences participants sang one song “for over three hours.” (CRI, http://www.equip.org/articles/the-counterfeit-revival-part-four/)

Singing one song for more than five minutes can begin to create a hypnotic effect, as mentioned above. It’s no secret that in the Word Faith movement, a great deal of emphasis is placed upon the praise and worship service. Would, I wonder, the “Spirit fall” if they sang hymns for three hours? No drums, just piano and a choir?

  • Counterfeit Revival guru Rodney Howard-Browne explains that “you can’t understand what God is doing in these meetings with an analytical mind. The only way you’re going to understand what God is doing is with your heart.”
  • On one occasion, as a woman was about to lapse into an altered state of consciousness, she became apprehensive and called out to God in prayer. Immediately Howard-Browne commanded her to cease. “Would you listen to me?” he shouted indignantly. “If your praying had helped, it would’ve helped you; now get laughing.”
  • Even while people are lined up waiting to receive his touch, Howard-Browne commands them not to pray: “Now people in the lines, wait for me to come and lay hands on you, and don’t pray, please don’t pray.” He addresses those who insist on praying as “stubborn people,” adding, “People come trying to be all serious and praying. No! This is not the time to pray. This is not a prayer meeting; get in the joy; you can pray on the way home.” (all quoted from CRI, http://www.equip.org/articles/the-counterfeit-revival-part-four/)

How do we confuse this with being from God? Where in the Bible anywhere are Christians roaring like lions, crawling on all fours, complaining of burning heat (The rich man in Luke complained of burning heat – and he most definitely was not saved), feelings of electrical shocks, head shaking, nodding, laughing incessantly, drunkenness – all behaviors the Bible FORBIDS!

We Christians need to repent that we even tolerate this in our midst.

  • All Word Faith teachers add to the Word of God, through prophecies, and through the claim to direct divine knowledge that supersedes or surpasses the Bible because “God told me” or “God told Kenneth Hagin..” or “God told Kenneth Copeland.”

Word faith is based upon this doctrine, which I’m going to boil down into a nutshell.

God desired to reproduce Himself on this earth, creating Adam. As Adam is described as the son of God in the Gospels, he therefore was a god. We therefore as sons of Adam, are gods as well. Well, when Adam sinned in the garden, he gave away his godhood to Satan, who then became the god of this world.

Since we are gods, our words have creative power. We can speak death and life with our words – once we’re born again. In order for us to regain our godhood, the Lord Jesus Christ died and went into hell, dying spiritually and becoming sin. He was born again, and exhibited the power we should have as born again believers.

When we’re born again, we get our godhood back. And we’re little gods again.

See how this anti-gospel is based upon US??? This is a completely man centered doctrine.

So, what do we call this practice of speaking words in a certain manner or with certain words, and things magically happening when we speak these formulas? Or ordering spiritual entities to perform tasks for us?

Witchcraft.

What do we call “speaking faith”, or “Commanding god or the angels” to do certain things?

Casting spells.

Strip all of the Bible buzzwords from it. Ignore the Bible verses. What do you have? Witchcraft. The casting of spells. The ordering of a spirit to possess a body (ordering the “Holy spirit” to possess someone) is possession. If, as we’ve demonstrated, it is not Jesus of the bible, it is not God, nor is it the Holy Spirit. THen who is it we’re ordering to possess someone and grant them powers of… babbling nonsense, a non-Biblical speaking in tongues?

Demonic Possession.

People, what are we DOING??? Why is not all of Christianity rising up against this abomination?

“As a believer, you have a right to make commands in the name of Jesus. Each time you stand on the Word, you are commanding God to a certain extent because it is His Word.” (Kenneth Copeland, Our Covenant with God, KCP Publications, 1987, p. 32)

26 Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times. Leviticus 19:26 (KJV)

At one time we were holding some special meetings and I was out distributing bills. I went into a shoemaker’s store and there was a man with a green shade over his eyes and also a cloth. My heart looked up to the Lord and I had the witness within that He was ready to change any condition. The man was crying, “Oh! Oh!! Oh!!!” I asked, “What’s the trouble?” He said he was suffering with great inflammation and burning. — Faith That Prevails, Smith Wigglesworth (1938)

31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God. Leviticus 19:31 (KJV)

“We need to realize that when God tells us to believe that we receive what we pray for, it is because what we are praying for is already in existence in the spirit world. Our believing we receive what we pray for causes that thing to come out of the spirit world into this physical world. I like to refer to this as the duality of existence. Everything exists in two forms — first of all in spirit form, then in physical manifestation form. It is faith that makes the transfer from the spirit world into the physical world. Your healing is there, your new home is there, your new car is there, peace is there, and deliverance for your children is there. But you have to reach out into that spirit world and claim your Covenant by saying, “In the name of Jesus, I believe that I receive it.” Maintain that confession, keep standing by faith on God’s Word, and the thing you are believing for will come to pass in your life.” (“Apostle” Frederick K. C. Price, “Have Confidence In God,” Weekly Message June 27-July 1, 2005.

6 And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people. 7 Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. Leviticus 20:6-7 (KJV)

“God, we proclaim death to anything or anyone that will lift a hand against this network and this ministry that belongs to You, God. It is Your work, it is Your idea, it is Your property, it is Your airwaves, it is Your world, and we proclaim death to anything that would stand in the way of God’s great voice of proclamation to the whole world. In the Name of Jesus, and all the people said Amen!” (Paul Crouch, TBN, 11/7/97)

9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. 13 Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God. 14 For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do. Deuteronomy 18:9-14 (KJV)

“I felt a terrific anointing … I was shaking all over … trembling under the power of God … `Dear God,’ I said, `I feel the anointing.’ … I believe the anointing has lingered over Aimee’s body.” (Benny Hinn, April 7, 1991 sermon, speaking of visiting Aimee Semple McPherson’s grave)

10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. Deuteronomy 18:10-11 (KJV)

Why isn’t anyone questioning these things?

Correct Doctrine 8

GOD THE FATHER

3. We Believe that God rules over the universe, His creation.

3.1. God is a compassionate being, regarding all of creation with love, concern, and affection. (Luke 12:6-7, John 3:16, Zeph. 3:17,Rom. 5:5,8, 8:39, 1 Cor 2:9, Eph. 2:4, 3:19, 5:2, Titus 3:4, Jas. 2:5, 1 John 3:16, 4:7-9, Jude 1:21)

Not too hard to understand. God created the Universe. It belongs to him.

It is unique that so many religions lacked a caring, loving God until Christianity presented Him. Judaism showed Him to the world first. Then, as Christians beheld Him in the flesh, in awe and love, we try to show Him to the World.

“God loves you so much, He came in the Flesh and suffered and died for you. He knew your sins separated you from God, so God paid that price for you.”

Of course, the Gospel message (which is what this is, of course) is empty without reflecting on God’s Judgment. It pronounces how great God’s love for us really is.6 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? 7 But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:6-7 (KJV)

Read the verses below, and think about the awesome love of God.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 (KJV)

17 The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 (KJV)

5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Romans 5:5 (KJV)

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 (KJV)

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:39 (KJV)

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9 (KJV)

4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Ephesians 2:4 (KJV)

19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Ephesians 3:19 (KJV)

2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. Ephesians 5:2 (KJV)

4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Titus 3:4 (KJV)

5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? James 2:5 (KJV)

16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1 John 3:16 (KJV)

7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. 1 John 4:7-9 (KJV)

21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. Jude 1:21 (KJV)

Correct Doctrine 7

Short one today!

2.5. All three persons of the Godhead have always been actively involved with mankind, and are executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption and in the accomplishment of His eternal plan and purpose. (John 4:23-24, Psa. 90:1-2, 51:11, Isa. 63:10-11, Dan 5:11, Gen 16:7, 22:11, Jud. 2:1-4)

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24 (KJV)

Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. 2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. Psalm 90:1-2 (KJV)

11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Psalm 51:11 (KJV)

10 But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them. 11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him? Isaiah 63:10-11 (KJV)

11 There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers; Daniel 5:11 (KJV)

1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called: 2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied. 3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 1:1-4 (KJV)

It’s this simple – the Holy Spirit testifies of the Lord Jesus Christ, who saves you, pays the penalty for your sins, and saves you – enabling you to stand in the presence of God the Father, whose adopted child you have become once you are saved!

Doesn’t get any easier. See you next time.

Correct Doctrine 6

2.2. God is Sovereign over all the Universe – all of the Universe belongs to God as His Creation. God is worthy of all praise, glory, worship and devotion (Col. 1:16-17, Psa. 50:10, 145:3, 150:6, Rev. 4:11).

2.3. All three persons of the Trinity, the Godhead, were all actively involved with creation simultaneously (Gen. 1:1-3)

2.4. The God of the Bible is not to be confused with *****, Buddha, any of the Hindu pantheon or any other religions’ supreme being. There is only the God of the Bible, and no other. (Isa. 44:8, Jer. 10:10-16, 16:20, Deut. 6:4, John 14:6, Exo. 23:24,32-33, Gal 4:8)

I don’t have to explain 2.2 at all. God is King over the universe. Hail the King! I think we ALL get that point – but good mercy, how often we forget!

Genesis 1:1-3 (KJV)

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Verse one is God the Father. Verse 2 is God the Holy Spirit. Verse three is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible calls all three “God”. See Correct Doctrine 5 for any confusion on that. I pretty much guarantee that with my ham-handed way of trying to explain it, you’ll have even MORE confusion!

8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any. Isaiah 44:8 (KJV)

10 But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. 11 Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens. 12 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. 13 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures. 14 Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. 15 They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish. 16 The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name. Jeremiah 10:10-16 (KJV)

20 Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods? Jeremiah 16:20 (KJV)

4 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: Deuteronomy 6:4 (KJV)

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 (KJV)

24 Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images. Exodus 23:24 (KJV)

32 Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. 33 They shall not dwell in thy land, lest they make thee sin against me: for if thou serve their gods, it will surely be a snare unto thee. Exodus 23:32-33 (KJV)

8 Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. Galatians 4:8 (KJV)

There is no other God, or god. Benny Hinn is not a god. Paul Crouch is not a god. Kenneth Copeland is not a god. You are not a god. You will never become one. The God of the Bible is not to be confused with any Great Spirit, Buddha, Brahma, Krishna, O-Yama, etc. The God of the Bible wrote one Bible, and gave it to the Jews, who preserved it until the time of the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, who then called out His community, His Ekklesia. The Lord’s churches preserved the Bible, and were preserved by the Bible.

“Well, there’s another Bible, my people read the…”

It’s not the Bible. It’s another Gospel. I have many pages that can introduce the Lord to you. He wants to know you. He wants to save you. But if you don’t repent, and seek the Lord Jesus Christ, you will not enter into the kingdom of Heaven.

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 (KJV)

Correct Doctrine 5

2. We Believe in the God of the Bible, One God expressed in three distinct Persons; The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost, eternally co-existing from before time and creation in Trinity (Gen. 1:1-3,26, 18:2, 13 Matt. 28:19, 2 Cor: 13:14).

2.1. All persons of the Godhead (The Father, The Son and The Holy Ghost) are equal – none of the three are above the others (Gen. 1:1-3, John 3:35, 5:18,22-23, 10:30, Rom. 1:4, Heb. 9:14).

This is a major area of doctrine. It should pretty much be one of the first areas you look at when reading a statement of faith. I’ve got 5 areas I look for immediately – the Trinity, the Bible, Salvation by Grace, the Godhood of the Lord Jesus Christ, and Salvation-a gift of God. I then re-read the statement of faith, to see what areas I’ve missed.

A Church’s Statement of Faith should never be read hurriedly, or skimmed. I can think of few organizations that can wound a Christian more severely than a Church. If you joined a church that turned out to be false in doctrine, and you read the Statement of Faith beforehand – one of two things happened…

  1. They lied in their statement of faith
  2. or you read it too quickly.

If you don’t understand it, print it out, call the Pastor and ask. The Pastor doesn’t want to fight people on their beliefs (unless he’s running a cult!) – he wants like minded people. I guarantee if you don’t believe in the gifts of the spirit and you talk to a Charismatic pastor, he’s going to try to convince you you’re wrong. And when that doesn’t happen, sadly, he’ll suggest the church is not for you. Likewise a Baptist Pastor will do the same for a Charismatic.

Getting back to the issue discussed today, Trinitarianism is literally one of the first things attacked by false teachers. Some try to use specific wordings to hide the truth. That’s why you have to CAREFULLY READ a Statement of Faith. I don’t care how good the church is, how good the free coffee is, the light show, the rock and roll band they have, etc… if doctrinally they’re off, stay away!

God the Father is God.

The Lord Jesus Christ is eternally God. He is not a created being. He existed as God from before time.

The Holy Ghost is God, and a personality – not electricity, not a force, not gamma rays, not gravity, and not the sound of one hand clapping. The Holy Ghost is God.

For reasons we cannot understand, The Holy Ghost prefers to voluntarily point people to the Lord Jesus Christ and away from Himself. And the Lord Jesus Christ, equal with God, voluntarily places Himself beneath God the Father -who exalts the Lord Jesus Christ above all. Not only can’t we understand the reasons, we can’t understand the concept!

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. 9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:5-11 (KJV)

3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 1 Corinthians 11:3 (KJV)

26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: John 15:26 (KJV)

Scripture is always our bottom line! You cannot argue with Scripture. Although I’m sure I could have worded this better, but nothing really came into my head. To explain this concept, I’d almost have to write a Bible Commentary on these verses, and every other verse dealing with this subject. Go to your Pastor and ask him to help you with this, if you’re having trouble understanding it.

I understand it, but have trouble explaining it. Please refer to the verses of the Bible. If you can think of better ways to word this… leave a comment below!!!

William Branham denied the Trinity. I’m sorry, but he never repented of it. Anyone who denies the Godhood of the Lord Jesus Christ will not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Trinity is a Biblical Concept.

6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. 9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:6-13 (KJV)

This passage is pure meat. You have to spend some time chewing it carefully! It bears strong witness of the Trinity, and explains that anyone who is not Trinitarian will not enter heaven.

Not too surprisingly, this passage is attacked in Bible Translating Committees almost immediately, by the Unitarians on the council.

“…and these three are one.” This explains it simply – They are one being in three personalities. Well, maybe that’s not so simple!

It’s easy to get this wrong! A common phrase is, “I’m a husband, a father and a son. I’m three in one.” This is perilously close to Modalism, which is the view of Oneness Pentecostals.

God is God, God is the Lord Jesus Christ, God is the Holy Spirit. One God revealed in Three persons.

The chief argument used against the doctrine of the Trinity is that it doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t seem reasonable. The answer to this is that we must believe the Bible regardless of whether or not it makes sense to our puny human understanding (He. 11:6). — David Cloud, The Way of Life Encyclopedia of the Bible and Christianity

There you go. Trust and believe what the Bible has to say, and you will never go wrong.
