See the April 4 blog entry for background.
The unsaved within the SBC have leveled a nonsense charge against the conservatives (Read: “Christians”) within the SBC.
This is not, mind you, conservatives and liberals like in politics. You may be a Democrat, a Tory or Whig, or Labour party for all I care. I try to not discuss worldly politics here.
No, when I say Conservative here, I mean a born again Christian. I defined that on April 4.
So, the unsaved lost Liberals, in an effort to once again wrest control of the SBC from the Christians, have leveled a charge of Bibliolatry.
Bibliolatry. Making an idol of the Bible. The charge is nonsense. Webster’s 1828 does not even include the term.
The unsaved are claiming that by reading the Bible, and believing it literally, making it our sole guide of faith and practice – we are somehow worshiping our Bible. Which we don’t – we just use it in the manner it’s intended, as the preserved word of God to shape and guide our lives as Christians.
It’s not surprising they’d say this, as lost people don’t understand the Bible, can’t understand the Bible, and don’t want to understand the Bible lest they turn and be saved.
I suggest to them they try reading it literally, and believing it, before it’s too late.
