“I want to do what I want to do, and nobody’s going to stop me.”
This more properly could be called the motivation for criminal behavior, and not the primary objection to getting saved. It’s never spoken, but it’s honestly the primary objection. It is not limited to criminals, BTW – I meet a lot of common people who seem to fit this.
The behavior model behind this objection is simple:
I want to do what I want to do…
If there is a God, then He has the right as my Creator to make certain demands of me.
I don’t like that. I want to do what I want to do. Therefore, I do not wish to acknowledge that there is a God.
Does this line of thinking sound right to you? Or (let me rephrase this…) does this line of thinking make you very uncomfortable? If I’ve hit a nerve, meditate on this and ask yourself… Is this me? Do I recognize that there is a God, and He wants to take care of me?
Be advised – God is patient. But there will come reckoning, both in this life and the next. God will give you warnings that He is real, and desires a relationship with you. God wants to save you.
Psalms 78:29-35 So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire; (30) They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths, (31) The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel. (32) For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works. (33) Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble. (34) When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and inquired early after God. (35) And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.
You need to decide, quickly. You have not a guarantee of another second.
Mark 9:47-48 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: (48) Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Hell is real. There’s no denying that. You don’t believe in Hell? You will. Absolutely. Because I can think of nothing worse than torment that never ends. Torment, agony, unending horror… and the worst part will be the realization that this will NEVER END. You will have a brief respite, when the Great White Throne judgment happens. But then you will return to the flames, forever.
If it were possible for me to witness to everyone in Hell, there’d be no problem. “Would you like a Gospel tract?” “YES!!!!” “Are you ready to be saved?” “Oh, Yes!!! Absolutely!”
But it’s not possible. It is too late once you’re there. And remember – you chose it.
Turn now, before it’s too late. Call a Baptist church in your town, tell them you read this, and you want some help! Now!
Don’t let this wait.
